Job title: Senior Manager – Global Initiatives & Local Support
Responsible to: Senior Director – Global Initiatives & Local Support
Department: Global Revenue & Royalties Optimization
Location of work: London, 4PS
Main purpose of role
We are currently looking for a Senior Manager – Global Initiatives & Local Support to support the local Global Revenue & Royalties Optimization (GRRO) community worldwide (40 territories). This role will be based in London however will have a large amount of travel required. This position will primarily focus on local royalty processing optimization and harmonization through facilitating the adoption, use and support of current and future global royalty standard solutions & process.
Working closely with the Senior Director – Global Initiatives & Local Support, the role will include the following responsibilities:
• Contribute to / maintain a global knowledge-base and heat map by territory, including a complete inventory of royalty related systems and processes, financial solutions, e.g., SAP, JDE, etc.; contact information and structure of royalty area, portal solution (or not), portal usage statistics, statement volumes, plans for rollouts, issues, anomalies to standard practice, territory specific requirements or restrictions, language, trends (once Zendesk implemented), planned meetings, regions or territory-specific, strengths, weaknesses, training required, volumes, span of responsibilities, level of audit activity
• Scoping, discovery, design and implantation of new business processes sometimes supported by the development of toolsets
• Conducts ‘As-Is’ process discovery work to inform design and implementation of ‘To-Be’ business processes
• Work closely with key users, product owners, business analysts and IT development teams to understand, document & communicate the needs of the business users to development teams to ensure the systems supporting local GRRO continue to support changing business requirements
• Generates ideas and solutions to sometimes complex business issues simply and effectively so that risk/benefit decisions can be made
• Provide inputs to change plans that mitigate risk and increase operational effectiveness of the rollouts
• Monitor & prepare ongoing reports, analysis, and status updates as required
• First level of operational issue management and analysis support for any issues or questions raised by the users through resolution where appropriate. The role will also require training new business users, and leading demos to various business units
• Ensure GRRO standards & process are used worldwide and understand local exceptions (legal/regulatory, etc) to help inform standards and ensure accommodations can be made as required
• Understand the overall GRRO strategy to be able to contribute fully to the UMG GRRO team, ensuring the requirements & priorities of the local operating companies are fully represented
• Be responsible for communicating and championing the wider aims of the GRRO priorities, road map, etc to stakeholders and users
• Work closely with Global teams from other threads (Finance, Repertoire etc) to ensure that the overall GRRO delivery needs are fully met from an end-to-end perspective.
Person specificationEssential
• The applicant will have proven royalty knowledge of both artist & copyright royalties from the Music Company perspective. Ideally experience in a royalty-related area, either as a royalty user or in project work relating to royalty systems required
• Excellent stakeholder management experience & interpersonal skills to define and manage stakeholder expectations, including local op-co staff at all levels, GRRO team members and IT
• Applicants should be literate, numerate, analytical and have an aptitude to understand systems
• Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and willing/able to travel representing the UMG GRRO Team as & when required
• Works well in a cross-geographic team environment – but is comfortable working independently as required
• Ability to enhance existing business process & related systems
• A calm problem solver working with changing requirements & priorities
• Ability to work & communicate effectively within a Global environment

Desirable
• An understanding of Artist Contracts, Rights and Music Business Revenue Streams
• Experience of use of royalty accounting software packages
• Experience of working & communicating in a global environment
• Experience of use of accounting software (SAP)
• Experience with MS Office products including Advanced/strong Excel skills
• Experience delivering training to other people
