The A Side: A Day in The Life
The UMC A&R team is responsible for all of Universal Music's catalogue music output, from archive streaming campaigns to 4K YouTube videos to vinyl box sets. The team provide creative output, relationship management and product development that supports a best in class release schedule and content plan.
This role will lead the newly created Label Operations team and be integral to leading UMC's release output across all areas of initiation and scheduling.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Collaborative
• Own UMC A&R's relationship with legal, licensing, metadata, production and supply chain teams to manage progress of releases
• Embed new label copy and assets gathering protocols with the A&R team
• Close daily liaison with A&R team on all aspects of the release process for digital audio, digital video and physical releases
• Maintain effective communication lines between UMC Commercial, Marketing, Audience Development and Finance teams, in order to maximise release revenue opportunities
• Chair scheduling meetings across production and supply chain functions to manage A&R workflow
Be Operational
• Owner of UMC product and content release schedule, responsible for managing deadlines on A&R team's initiation process
• Improve and embed the product release process from start to finish overseeing every aspect
• Initiate robust UMC label processes for GRS and CLA clearance
• Integrate UGC claims workflow into optimised strategy for archive monetisation
• Oversee label QC measures, to ensure best practice benchmarks are consistent throughout all release output
• Manage scheduling of international releases for UK release
• Ensure label copy information is submitted to Metadata Operations
• Approve A&R consultant project fees and manage payment process via Uniport
• Label ambassador for gathering & implementation of label copy data points to assist voice search technologies
Be Managerial
• Mentor and develop the Label Operations Coordinator and A&R Admin Coordinator
• Monitor release schedule and production lead times, supervise label copy collation and R2 metadata input
Person Specification
• A proven track record in a related operations or production role
• Preferred working knowledge of R2
• Demonstrable ability to convey technical processes to non-technical people
• Experience in technical training
• Understanding of retail revenue streams for recorded music
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload
• Adaptable and able to use initiative
• Ability to communicate and liaise with all levels and departments within the business
• Highly organised with proven administrative skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Great attention to detail
