Description
Job title: Media Assistant
Responsible to: Press Director
Department: Polydor
Location of work: 4 Pancras Square, Kings Cross
The A Side: A Day in The Life
Reporting to the Director of Press, this is a key role assisting the press department whilst developing skills to manage press campaigns.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be administrative
• To carry out any reasonable instruction as directed by Director of Press and Head of Press
• Liaise effectively with other departments within the company to ensure the maximum effectiveness of the press team
• Keep abreast of developments in online and print publishing / podcasts / editorial platforms on social media
• Work closely with Director of Press on forecasting and management of monthly press spend
• Liaise with independent companies delivering publicity profile for Polydor artists
• Liaise with label’s Finance team
• Use Uniport system
Be operational
• Provide cover for press team, attending shoots, overseeing interviews
• Write and service press releases to media
• Develop skills to generate carefully targeted and managed PR campaigns for Polydor artists, across all media
• Develop and maintain excellent relations with media contacts
• Explore relationships with key global platforms & titles
• Nurture and develop links with the Digital marketing department
• Attend gigs
• Liaise with regional press teams
• Develop relationships with brands

• Enthusiastic and knowledgeable music fan
• Effective communicator both verbally and in writing
• A creative writer with a solid command of grammar
• Inspiring communicator in meetings at all levels
• Efficient and organized
• Calm under pressure
• Outgoing, adaptable, and persuasive personality
• Able to work on own initiative
• Diplomat
• Comfortable working with budgets
• Computer skills
• Good team player album to work comfortably with colleagues at all levels, artists, and managers as well as journalists
• A good knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, all aspects of the UK online and print music media and blogs
• Negotiation skills
