Description
Job title: Marketing Communications Manager
Responsible to: Managing Director
Department: U-Live
Location of work: Kings Cross
Main Purpose of Role
U-Live is a promoter, producer and investor in live entertainment. Our portfolio ranges from festivals to musical theatre, from live film events to large outdoor concerts and covers a variety of music genres.
• Planning, development and implementation of U-Live’s marketing and PR strategies , campaigns, communications and external public relations in a timely fashion and to budget .
• Work closely with our promoting partners to ensure that marketing and communication campaigns are effective in driving ticket sales and brand awareness for U-Live events including, to name a few; Sundown, Nocturne and The Long Road.
• Act as brand guar d ian for U-Live , and across all individual events, ensuring the growth and development of each brand identity.
• Liaise closely with internal teams within Universal Music to harness synergies across relevant UMG departments, e.g. in digital marketing, eCRM , insights , and to work collaboratively with our labels to maximise ticket sales .
General:
• Continually seek new commercial opportunities for U-Live and work with project leads to devise strategies to drive ticket sales for U-Live’s portfolio of events.
• Provide direction and support to key personnel as required.
• Develop and maintain effective team working within the U-Live division and offices of Universal Music.
• Maintain the highest level of customer service.
• Continually seek ways to improve personal, team and business performance.
• Ensure that you comply with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practice as required by current legislation and the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and practices.
• Ensure that all relevant information is communicated speedily and accurately in a way that ensures that the information is received and easily understood.
• Ensure that all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilised to minimise waste and reduce costs.
• Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable request as requested by the Managing Director.
Develop and deliver event specific fully integrated marketing, communication and PR campaign s for all events, including:
• L ocal campaigns to drive ticket sales and increase community involvement .
• Online and digital web strategies .
• Advertising, print, posters, etc .
• Measure the success of marketing, communication and PR campaigns. PR campaigns to be developed and delivered by an external agency.
• Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for festivals and events and delivery of a ll MarComm plans within budget.
• As guardian of the U-Live brands, create brand guidelines specifically for Sundown and The Long Road and monitor use of brands to portray desired image and position both internally and externally.
• Establish each event as a brand within the industry and improve brand awareness amongst industry stakeholders and consumers in the long term.
• Oversee market research to monitor trends within relevant markets.
• Support the Senior Business Development Manager to engage existing event and festival brand partners to nurture relationships. Generate creative ideas for brand activations and assist in brand pitches as required.
• This post will report into the Project Director of the relevant festival.
Person Specification
This role will suit someone with previous experience working in marketing and communication within the entertainment industry, specifically with tangible results in driving ticket sales.
• Proven experience in marketing and communications with demonstrated success, preferably in the event and live entertainment sector.
• Demonstrate skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communication and PR activities .
• Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organisational and personal sales skills .
• Experience in developing and working within pre- approved budget s.
• Demonstrate successful experience in writing press release s , delivering presentations, and negotiation with media .
• Experience in overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications .
