Description
How we LEAD:
In this role, the successful candidate will support the rights operations team in the implementation and maintenance of the rights management process. They will work closely with the key users to support ongoing communication of the visions and objectives of rights management to all relevant departments within UMG’s labels, with a specific focus on Business Affairs. They will also support the operationalization of the process i.e. implementation of an architecture to support the newly established rights management processes. This includes operational support of the process, troubleshooting issues, etc.
They will work daily with rights managers, central royalties, label business affairs, label clearance departments, and the central business affairs team to implement the rights management process. This includes responding to questions and feedback from users, facilitating approval sessions with label attorneys, following up to make sure the process is running as designed, and gathering new requirements.
In addition, they will work with the business transformation and technical teams to serve as a rights product ‘expert’. This includes training new business users, discussing and implementing policies with regards to the capture of contractual operating provisions, and leading demos to various business units. They will also be the first level of support for any issues or questions raised by the users regarding the rights management business process and technical issues.
Finally, they will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and reporting statistics regarding the process back to the wider team on a regular basis.
How you’ll CREATE:
• Research, analyze, track and document business and functional requirements
• Design, maintain and document all required business user guides and best practices documentation
• Train business users on new software and business processes and provide first-line business support during the implementation phase
• Create and distribute release notes to accompany each new release which translate technical developments into business-relevant language
• Prepare ongoing reports, analysis, and status updates regarding the rights management process
• Potential travel to UMG’s Los Angeles and international offices to support the rollout to additional labels including analysis and documentation of the structure of each label, the ‘as is’ deal management process, and key resources at each label
• Work in an operational capacity to facilitate and manage the relationship between rights system users and other departments and systems (from a business process and technical perspective) to facilitate product releases
Bring your VIBE:
• 2-3 years’ experience in the music industry
• Strong documentation skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Works well in a team environment – but can work independently when required
• Completes deliverables on-time with limited supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with label staff, team members, business leads, and other IT groups
• Solution/customer service-oriented mentality
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to maintain focus and complete detailed contractual and business process analysis
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Strong technical skills (experience and comfortability using web-based applications)
• Experience working with legal data capture applications
• Experience running SQL queries
• Bachelor’s Degree in Music Business preferred
