Job title: Label Intern
Responsible to: Director of Publicity
Department: Island Records
Location of work: 4 Pancras Square, Kings Cross
The A Side: A Day in The Life
A chance to work for the iconic Island Records at their head office in London in an exciting frontline role, working in the Press department. A great opportunity to work on campaigns for global superstar acts such as Drake, Mumford & Sons, U2, Ariana Grande, Sigrid and many others.
This role will involve working closely with departments across the label including Publicity, Marketing, Creative and Audience.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be administrative
• Day to day assistant duties for the publicity team including distributing mail outs (physical and digital), booking artist, journalist and staff travel for promo commitments and helping team prep for meetings
• Providing national and local press with pictures on request
• Updating/maintaining the publicity contact database
• Coordinate the delivery of our Premium Music Video content into the UMG supply chain, liaising with Marketing Managers, video producers and our central production team
Be operational
• Managing all press cuttings (collect, distribute, file etc) and collating press packs
• Managing the rosters’ regional press and assisting with online press
• Reviewing press releases
• Managing the publicity department’s invoices and budgets, and preparations for monthly budget meeting
• Be responsible for clearing publishing across our domestic Premium Music Video catalogue, liaising with artist managers, our US label partners and external publishing companies
Person Specification
Necessary
• Passionate about music with a desire to work and progress in the industry
• Desire to work within Press
• Self-motivated, hard-working and enthusiastic
• Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure
• A track record of working to strict deadlines and maintaining a high standard of attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Flexible and able to prioritise own workload.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Desirable
• Experience of working in an office environment
• Experience working in ‘music’ (personal or professional)
