COMMERCIAL AFFAIRS INTERNSHIP
Universal Music Canada is proud to offer students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the music industry through our Unpaid Internship Program commencing Fall 2018 (September to December). Today’s students may be tomorrow’s employees and this placement will provide interested students with the chance to work with and learn directly from music industry professionals.
The Commercial Affairs department is fully integrated consisting of Retail Sales & Marketing, D2C Sales & Marketing and Bravado Sales & Marketing, requiring assistance with our day to day activities in all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting Marketing Coordinator, Sales Reps / Managers and Account Executives with day to day duties, including but not limited to:
• Sourcing promotional materials (artist assets - packshots, publicity photos, bio’s, style guides, etc.)
• Submitting various artwork requests, interactive requests, licensing approvals, filling out submission forms, tracking approvals
• Assisting Marketing Managers with retail events (in-stores etc.)
• Various research projects for third party and sales opportunities, quarterly trends presentations, presentations for touring artists, etc.
• Cold calling non-traditional retailers to gather data for sales opportunities
• Updating Release schedules, various reporting, product orders, product information (i.e. UPC, Catalogue #s, etc.) including ASANA maintenance, Uniport (POs, invoices)
• Inventory tracking: counting, storing, pulling for giveaways, shipping samples, etc.
• “Cool Hunting”: searching for current tour/entertainment/fashion trends, and other interesting custom branded items we can offer our marketing team and our artists; find websites to mine for product ideas, search for artists whose merch is interesting and can be used for inspirational purposes
• Canadian Artist/Band Sourcing: Search for Canadian artists who regularly tour North America, create a database of these artists and their contact info so we can approach them for tour dealsRequirements:
• • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program that requires a placement
• Passion for music
• Proficient in MS Office (i.e. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and in a team
