Description
The Def Jam Director, Social Media is responsible for updating, analyzing, tracking, and creating digital campaigns across all respective Def Jam online properties – including, but not limited to: DefJam.com, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, Vevo, Tumblr, and more.
The resourceful candidate will be directly integrated in with the marketing teams to identify and execute digital strategy. In addition, this person will be responsible for shaping Def Jam’s digital strategy and overall voice in an ever-changing online landscape.
Job Functions:
• Updating all Def Jam digital platforms in conjunction with the needs of the label and/or artists
• Real-time marketing ability based on digital & social trends
• Sharing campaign results with the internal teams
• Brainstorming and implementing original concepts
• Creating comprehensive digital calendars based on the needs of the brand and its artists
• Tracking and analyzing back-end analytics to optimize Def Jam’s digital presence
• Working alongside digital partners to bring in opportunities for Def Jam
• Collaborating with the various Def Jam departments to maximize digital opportunities
• Identifying tastemakers and building strong relationships with digital “influencers” to build mutually beneficial and culturally relevant campaigns
• Being the “eyes and ears” for the Def Jam brand by monitoring digital trends, applications, tools, and more
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Strong familiarity with the Def Jam brand as well as all of its artists
• Creative thinker
• Affinity for the Def Jam consumer with strong insights and intuition
• In-Depth knowledge of all major digital platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Wordpress, and more
• Familiarity with Photoshop, Final Cut, HTML, and other editing software
• Skilled in working with analytics tools, such as Crimson Hexagon, Next Big Sound, Google Analytics, CrowdTangle, Radian6, and more
Experience:
• At least 5 years experience in the social media/digital space, preferably in music
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree
