The A Side: A Day in The Life
Universal Music Global Classics & Jazz is the undisputed worldwide leader in its genre and is the London-based central unit for the world’s greatest classical and jazz labels: Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Verve, Blue Note and ECM. There is now an exciting opportunity for a Digital and Data Optimiser to join our Content team to continue to optimize our repertoire for existing and future business models in the fast-changing digital environment.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Analytical
• Undertake a wide variety of empirical testing in the music-streaming space and accurately record, aggregate and maintain the data
• Accurately describe and curate a wide range of mainly jazz repertoire based on its anatomical and intrinsic qualities such as genre, tempo, or mood
Be Commercial
• Assist in maximising asset availability across our Global Business Partners, using the simple principle ‘Everything, Everywhere’
• Monitor pirate activity and work with other departments to ensure takedown/revenue claiming
Be Organised
• Present and report your findings effectively to the wider team
• Other ad hoc projects as required
Personal Specification
Necessary
• The successful candidate will have experience working in a music and/or streaming/e-commerce related environment with some technology, data or mathematics experience
• You are comfortable with consumer technology as it relates to music, you spend much of your life on music and video streaming services and probably have some experience using voice command devices
• You have a wide taste in many kinds of music, but a knowledge and love of jazz (both heritage and contemporary) is essential as is a good working knowledge of classical music
• You have a good ear for musical attributes such as genre, tempo and ability and can maintain consistency of approach/focus for long periods
• Your love of music is allied equally to a desire for commercial success and understanding consumer behaviour patterns
• The successful candidate will have advanced Excel skills and are comfortable recording, using and maintaining large quantities of data
• The ability to build fruitful international relationships, particularly in Jazz
• You are meticulous and possess excellent attention to detail, but you are also fast and deadline-oriented
• You are highly flexible and can adapt to new circumstances/change priorities as required
