Overview
Globe is the home for creative and commercial partnerships, sync and production at Universal Music; the Globe team help companies to navigate the world of music and provide creative solutions for brands of all sizes.
As part of Universal Music, Decca Music Group have more than 80 years of recording history and an outstanding repertoire. Decca Artists include Sir Rod Stewart, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe, Aurora, Jeff Goldblum and The Shires as well as Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Cecilia Bartoli, Nicola Benedetti, Andrea Bocelli, Joseph Calleja, Ólafur Arnalds and the innovative Mercury KX label.
Launched in Jan 2017, Decca Publishing providing a unique global publishing platform for composers and repertoire in the fields of post-classical, score and instrumental music, helping to redefine the definition of a 21st century composer. Decca Publishing composers include Max Richter, Clark, Will Gregory (of Goldfrapp) Alex Somers & Sebastian Plano.
Main Purpose of the role
The duties assigned to the Creative Licensing Manager will include but are not limited to:
• Responsible for pitching and negotiating licenses for Decca Music Group /Decca Publishing songs / artists to our clients fo r TV adverts, Films, Computer games and UK TV shows.
• This will be done directly to Advertising agencies, Music Supervisors, Trailer Houses, Games Companies, and freelance producer and directors as well as in response to briefs.
• Responsible for pitching the Decca Publishing roster to the internal UMPG /UMG sync teams in the UK and Europe.
• Co-ordinating and working alongside the Decca Publishing US sync team to optimise global sync opportunities for the roster.
• Re sponding to niche c lassical and j azz brief as well as increasing number of projects and relationships we have in those areas .
• Liaising with clients and composers to deliver bespoke musical compositions for advertising campaigns.
• Attending Decca Records & Decca Publishing meetings and providing ad-hoc sync reports for the teams.
• Sustaining and nurturing client relationships with Music Supervisors, Advertising agencies and all of our contacts.
• Setting up meetings and going in-house to pitch songs to clients and obtain new briefs.
• Working across Universal & Havas relationship for talent links and projects.
• Working with Brand Partnerships division on music releases and marketing.
• Marketing and ‘selling’ the roster via email and social media .
• A ttending label planning and publishing strategy meetings .
• Quickly developing knowledge of the Universal master catalogue and Decca Publishing composer roster, including which composers/artists will do what and which will clear quickly if required.
• Attending gigs with clients on a weekly basis .
Person Specification
• Previous experience working in a creative role either within the music or sync related industry.
• A br oad knowledge of classical and jazz music as well as a keen interest in film.
• Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative .
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Passion for music both new and old and be willing to attend gigs with client s regularly.
• Able to quickly pick up the catalogue .
• Strong communicator with excellent people skills .
