Description
Universal Music Group is looking for a Coordinator of Artist Marketing to be a part of Capitol Music Group (with a shared responsibility across both Capitol-owned labels and Caroline Distribution) under the Commercial and Marketing teams located in Hollywood, CA. The Coordinator will own all the weekly partner/programmer/tastemaker pitching for streaming services/DSPs while also producing certain requested analysis and tracking across key projects on an ad hoc basis. This role will work in tandem with various departments under the direction of the Manager, Artist Marketing with guidance from multiple members of the Capitol and Caroline Commercial and Research teams. The role requires both a wide-ranging skill set for working across every department at a modern label group and a unique perspective to think ahead and anticipate the needs of tomorrow today.
Job Functions:
• Account Relations: Taking direction from the Commercial team account leads and Research team, produce and communicate all pitch materials for playlisting and other support to all DSP’s (Amazon, Apple, Pandora, Spotify, YouTube, etc) via necessary asset collection and form administration
• Commercial/Marketing Relations: Provide daily, weekly and ad hoc reporting and tracking information to relevant internal and external clients to insure compliance and performance goals are met
• Weekly Updates: Collaborate on and drive weekly updates for all partners highlighting growth areas and opportunities on priority releases. Also working with label partners to ensure they are consistently delivering concise/meaningful updates for use by the commercial team
• Data Driven Analytics: Assist in querying and presenting specific KPI’s/data points that are meaningful to label plus artist/manager expectations
• Culture Driven Focus: Know of, be immersed in, and speak eloquently to the pulse/relevance of an artist within the culture of the scene, conveying what is meaningful for account relations and benchmarking artist/manager expectations
• CMG “branding”/visibility: Act as a “face” for the Capitol Music Group, maintaining a presence at all relevant concerts and events
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Strong analytical skills with ability to efficiently communicate strategy, results and market conditions that will drive project growth and optimization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including: PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word
• Knowledge and ability to perform “data mining” via Python code or the interest and capability to be trained in this capacity
• Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize based evolving workload
• Good communication abilities with the ability to summarize large amounts of data to both executives and management
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, including adaptability, personal effectiveness, and the ability to establish quick rapport
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including prioritization and follow through
Experience:
• Some music industry experience with an emphasis on consumer-driven sales and/or marketing
• A life-long passion & encyclopedic knowledge of music both past and present
• Candidates should be creative, innovative, detail-oriented and resourceful. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task
• Must be tech savvy with deep understanding of current & forthcoming technologies and general market/industry trends
• Must be familiar with/able to navigate Nielsen, Mediabase, Next Big Sound and adapt to numerous of data dashboards
• Ability to strategize and contribute to marketing and sales campaigns, including pitching proposals for prospective clients
• Must be available for after hour meetings, shows, artist and programmer relations
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
