Job title: Audience Services Manager

Role Overview:
UMC is the label responsible for ensuring the continued success of Universal Music Group’s world class catalogue of recordings. We work with some of the most successful, innovative, timeless and respected artists of all time, continuing to grow their audiences and keep the world listening. From The Beatles to Massive Attack, through the soundtracks of Disney and new albums from legends such as The Specials, UMC develops strategies across audio, video, marketing, social, streaming and product development.
The Audience Development team is at the heart of UMC’s work to grow bigger, more engaged global audiences for our artists and their catalogues. Developing long-term creative digital plans, informed by clear audience insights, to grow listening over time.
Main purpose of the role:
Audience Services is a new discipline focused on providing guidance on best in class audience growth and engagement tactics for our artists and managers, derived from a mix of proprietary UMG knowledge and curated industry material.
General / regular duties:
• Audience Services
• Understand challenges which artists and managers face and deliver actionable solutions based on empirical best practice
• Gather insight and learning from across Universal artists and the industry, creating bespoke support for artists and managers who are remotely developing their audiences
• Work closely with the Audience Development team to prove best practice through robust measurement and understanding
• Content & Communication
• Define the best channel(s) or forum(s) for artists and management to receive intel
• Oversee the editorial plan for updates, ensuring useful information reaches artists and management in a timely manner
• Be responsive to queries and deal directly with artists and managers where necessary
• Be able to organise events involving training material, engaging agendas, presentations, and workshops
• Digital Knowledge
• Strong technological knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the digital space (web, eCRM, social media, streaming, VOD)
• Build strong relationships with platforms, data teams and digital partners
Person specification:
• Proven success in creating and implementing digital marketing initiatives
• Experience with producing bespoke training materials or toolkits
• Have a strong awareness of the digital sales environment.
• Experience using social media to enhance marketing.
• Experience of developing communication to live on digital platforms and websites.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels within the business.
• Confident meeting, presenting to, and building strong relationships with artist management and external partners.
• Flexible and able to prioritise own workload and multiple projects at any one time.
• The ability to learn quickly and adapt to the changing market.
• Self-motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic.
• Passionate about music and the digital landscape – and ultimately a music obsessed fan with broad tastes!
