Legal Assistant
United Artists Releasing, a Joint Venture between Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) and Annapurna Pictures (Annapurna), is a U.S. theatrical releasing company. Built upon the legacy of the iconic United Artists motion picture studio, the joint venture provides a home where filmmakers are supported by thoughtful approaches to marketing, publicity and distribution. United Artists Releasing offers content creators an alternative distribution option outside of the studio system and supports Annapurna and MGM's film slates as well as the films of third-party filmmakers.
We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to support our Executive Vice President, Business & Legal. This is a new role in the organization that will be key in helping the Legal department meet its goals for the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to learn department guidelines applying a logical and intuitive approach to their work.
Responsibilities:
• Drafting, formatting, redlining and editing various agreements and other legal documents; coordinating the execution of agreements
• Proofreading contracts for consistency and accuracy
• Management of some outside counsel invoicing and budget tracking
• Organizing and updating hard copy and electronic files
• Responsible for preparing meeting related materials
• General administrative duties, such as phones, calendaring, expense reports, travel, etc.
• Special projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• 2 - 4 years of relevant experience supporting attorneys; entertainment, media related industries, agency, or entertainment law firm experience preferred
• Experience working with contracts required
• High proficiency with Outlook, Word (Advanced), Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Experience in transactional law (e.g. prior work in law firm's corporate or entertainment department or in an in-house legal department) is required
• College Degree preferred
Desired Skills:
• Maintains a high level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
• Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to build strong relationships with all levels of employees, as well as outside contacts
• Must be able to work on a team with willingness to assist co-workers as needed
