Part Time Paid Internship
The Team
The Content Acquisition team is responsible for the licensing 3rd party content for TBS, TNT & truTV, plus HBO Max. - We are a client-facing department; staff works directly with executives from the major Hollywood studios and production companies to negotiate all terms of licensing for linear and digital platforms including windowing, runs, license fees, marketing allowances, and rights surrounding TV Everywhere/VOD and SVOD distribution. - The Content Acquisition team also works closely with the Programming & Strategy departments from both HBO Max and the linear networks - to target the best and most appropriate content to license based on brand, audience demo and network/platform directionality, the Finance team - to establish budgets and targeted price points for our deals and the Legal group - to draft contracts memorializing the deals we negotiate. The acquisition process also often demands collaboration with other internal groups such as Marketing, Ad Sales, Research and On-Air, among others.
The Job
• Our intern will participate and assist in all steps of the content acquisition process as we move through them, but will concentrate on analysis and research, helping us to achieve the highest level of preparedness before entering (and during) the negotiation process.
• To ensure that we get the best terms and most comprehensive rights grant for our platforms and programmers, we look both backward to past acquisitions and forward to future needs during our initial assessment of content. Historical analysis and future-looking research can include anything from evaluation and monitoring of the broadcast, cable and SVOD markets - to help to determine what content is available for us to acquire - to tracking major happenings within our competitive landscapes - to determine who's buying what, whether WarnerMedia is getting the most expansive grant of rights and whether we're in line with what other services are paying for content - to screening and keeping track of submissions - to help to determine what content should be presented for licensing.
• Interns who express enthusiasm, reliability and diligence can have opportunities to work on projects above and beyond research and analysis.
