Part-time Newswriter

Assists news producer in putting the newscasts together. Responsibilities include: writing news stories; booking segments, editing video and working with editors to edit video for broadcasts; working with reporters and logging video feeds. The writer also must learn the responsibilities of the producer so as to be prepared to produce a program as needed.

College degree or equivalent related experience preferred. Candidate will have at least 2 years experience in broadcast or print journalism. Producing experience and experience with Final Cut/nonlinear editing a plus. Working familiarity with Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and Satellite news Gathering (SNG) operations. Effective writing, good organizational and communication skills a must. Stays informed on current affairs. Can perform duties and make decisions under extreme pressure. Requires the capability of interacting positively and productively with others. Must work early morning hours.
