Role
This role is designed to be the step before advancing to the role of editor. The core responsibilities for this person will be working with our different teams to play an active role, from working with footage following a shoot, to transcoding following a shoot, and all the way through to ensure all deliverables/postings are met. This includes but not limited to creating all digital deliverables, assisting tape layoffs, quality controlling everything that leaves the department, inclusive of making sure all levels and time codes are accurate, and creating either physical or digital deliverables.
This person will prep workstations and work closely with editors making sure that all transcoding is taken care of and audio is in sync prior to the editor’s arrival. This includes prepping EDL’s for online and color correction sessions, as well as OMF’ for audio sessions. This person will also help to forecast and/or troubleshoot problems within the editorial /IO department.
They will work with other team members, both in the editorial department and in production, to help organize everything and ensure the editorial process is running smoothly, and assisting with logging material as it enters and leaves the studio.
When applicable this person may be called upon to edit boardmatics/animatics, work on pitches, pick up edits after editor’s bookings wrap, etc. This person must be a team leader who is hard-working, motivated, organized and understand that one must put in long hours when it is needed. This person will also communicate status updates to ensure that the editorial department stays on schedule.
Responsibilities
• Previous relevant experience in similar role
• Understanding of shared area network storage (ISIS/Unity/XSAN)
• Understanding of HD/SD formats, file and tape based deliveries
• Understanding of frame rates, conversions & Codecs
• Ability to prioritize, juggle multiple tasks, take direction and give direction
• Must be very detailed oriented.
• Must be prompt with the ability to respond and prioritize quickly
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal and listening
• Must be able to communication professionally at various levels, appropriate to the audience
• Excellent multi-tasking abilities. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• The candidate must be an exceptional problem solver

• Levelheaded, calm and functions well under stress
• Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations
Qualifications
• Mac proficient – PC and Linux a plus
• Proficient in Premiere, Resolve, Avid & Final Cut Pro
• Proficient with transcoding footage
• Proficient with codecs and compressions
• Proficient prepping EDL’s, OMF’s, XML’s
• Proficient in authoring and building DVDs and blu-rays
• Telecine
• Online Finishing needs
• Plate ingestion & plate breakouts following conform (s)
• Flame workflow
• Digital workflow
• DI
