SENIOR DIRECTOR, PEOPLE & CULTURE
Responsibilities
• Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) (20%):
• You will lead TIFF's D&I Strategy implementation in partnership with Senior Management and in support of TIFF's Strategic Priorities, by using your general diversity and inclusion and/or corporate social responsibility expertise as your guide.
• This role is highly collaborative, working in conjunction with key stakeholders including, all internal members of TIFF's programming, visitor experience, and marketing/communication teams as well as the D & I Committee and external D&I partners.
• You will develop and manage diversity and inclusion plans, programs and policies that help achieve measureable results and long term behavior and cultural change to enable TIFF to deliver on the annual Performance Agreements of the organization.
• Conduct Self Identification surveys for Staff and Volunteers and report diversity statistics for designated groups to identify necessary outreach as compared to Diversity Census data.
• Champion D&I knowledge, resources, best practices and experience to help leaders, HR and other internal stakeholders to build D&I capability.
• Work with the recruitment representatives to ensure that diversity principles and practices related to hiring are upheld and that hiring is conducted in a bias free manner.
• Develop educational materials on diversity and inclusion issues for Staff to use and present in training environments.
• Guide outreach initiatives for designated groups. This includes career fairs, educational initiatives, and other programs aimed at increasing the pipeline of qualified designated group applicants to TIFF roles.
• Establish Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and provide support and advice to pertaining to diversity and inclusion.
• Serve as a D&I thought leader internally and externally.
• Organizational Development & Engagement (50%):
• Ensure performance management, career development plans, succession management, optimal organization structure, staff retention plans, recognition programs, professional development programs, leadership development plans and initiatives support the needs of Staff by using best practices.
• Drive change management initiatives with Senior Management.
• As an experienced Senior HR Business Partner, liaise regularly with all department heads to provide human resource expertise, advice and HR strategies.
• Utilize Organizational Effectiveness Surveys, All Staff meetings & Town Halls to foster regular communication and positive engagement and implement strategic initiatives for improvement.
• Total Compensation & Budget Management (10%)
• Ensure a competitive total compensation philosophy and strategy based on organizational requirements.
• HR oversight, in conjunction with Finance, for the salary expense of the organization (all FT & Seasonal departments) for the annual HR budget and regular forecasts throughout the year.
• Labour Relations (10%)
• Foster positive labour relations and effective dispute resolution.
• Negotiate Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Team Management (10%)
• Provide strong leadership to motivate individual and team performance.
• You will coach and provide support and guidance to all teams regularly and during peak Festival periods to develop a positive corporate culture which maximizes results and delivery of TIFF's business objectives.
• You will utilize your HR expertise to establish progressive, integrated and automated practices for the HR, Payroll and Volunteer & Intern Resources teams.
Minimum Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years' work experience in a senior human resources generalist role or human resources centre of excellence role combined with human resources business partner capability
• Specialized knowledge in Diversity and Inclusion principles and best practices acquired through community college advanced certifications/diploma (i.e. HRM) equivalent educational experience or on the job experience
• A period of up to 5 years of experience in Diversity and Inclusion, Recruitment and Outreach
• Post-secondary education preferred, preferably with focus on human resources
• CHRL designation in good standing
• Capacity to think strategically with the ability to persuade and influence others.
• A relationship builder, skilled decision maker & problem solver, accountable & takes ownership
• A role model in leadership, managerial courage and motivating others
• Action-oriented, you are experienced with implementing departmental efficiencies
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
• Strategic agility to create and execute short and long term human resources strategies, striking a balance between strategic and tactical implementation
• Full working knowledge of collective agreements and employment legislation
• Proven high level of accomplishment in all aspects of employee and labour relations
• Exceptional financial acumen with an ability to perform budget and forecast analysis of salary expense and headcount
• Previous experience with volunteer management considered an asset
• Previous experience working in the Cultural Not For Profit sector considered to be an asset
