TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the full-time position of:
Copy Editor/Coordinator
Reporting to the Editorial Coordinator of TIFF's in-house agency, Department 30, the Copy Editor/Coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment, supporting the work of the Editorial team in relation to TIFF Bell Lightbox programming and Festival-specific initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Maintain editorial standards (clarity, structure, grammar) and ensure adherence to TIFF's style guide on all promotional copy as required (e.g., e-blasts and e-vites)
• Keep track of requests for edits on assorted collateral to ensure a consistent voice across all public-facing communications
• Conduct on-the-fly edits and proofing of website copy; liaise regularly with programming departments and other teams within Department 30 (Marketing, Communications, Digital, Production & Operations) to ensure needs are met
• Assist the Editorial Coordinator with data entry for tiff.net
• Assist the Editorial Coordinator with Festival-related administrative tasks as they arise
Minimum Requirements
• A degree or diploma programme in Film Studies, Arts, Humanities, Journalism or similarly applicable areas is preferred
• Experience writing, editing, and fact-checking (process, sources, notation) in an editorial environment (magazine, newspaper, online news/entertainment service), or writing and editing promotional copy for an arts organization. Advanced copy-editing skills and experience are essential.
• Data-entry experience and high computer proficiency (knowledge of HTML; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel; experience with Trello, MailChimp, and Artifax is an asset)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask with frequent interruptions in a busy open-concept work environment
• Ability to respond to fast-changing priorities and deadlines and to accommodate a flexible work schedule, allowing periodically for long hours and some evenings and weekends
