TopSpin Creative Corporation is looking for a motivated TV researcher to join our dynamic team. We are a Japanese TV production company located in New York City. This position is for a full-time employee to work in our midtown Manhattan office.
You will work with major Japanese networks assisting in the production of documentaries, news, drama, and variety shows. If you are interested in the broadcasting industry and willing to work in a diverse environment, you will get a real hands-on experience and develop strong qualitative research skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in English (archival newspaper & footage research, Internet research)
- Conduct interviews in English via email, phone, or social media to gather information
- Make daily reports in English for bilingual supervisor.
- Schedule and coordinate possible filming
- License photos and videos
- Assist in the proofreading and editing of documents and program materials/scripts in English
- Perform other duties and additional responsibilities as directed
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Native oral and written English communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
A strong candidate will also possess:
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Sincere interest in TV research, the broadcast industry, and popular culture
- Strong phone & negotiation skills, especially when discussing compensation and highly sensitive topics
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task
- Experience with and/or interest in Japanese culture & language highly preferred
- Must be willing to work in a bilingual office
- Ideal candidate is a self-starter, intellectually curious, and reliable
