Responsibilities:
The below list describes the essential functions of this role, but other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
• Take direction from the animation supervisor and leads to create appropriate performances of characters and assets according to show needs.
• Apply understanding of weight, movement, anatomy, dialog and acting.
• Make aesthetic and performance-related decisions that will benefit the shot.
• Read the script and understand the story, its characters, and plot points.
• Seamlessly incorporate digital characters with live-action actors.
• Push creative approach to evolve with technology.
• Attend animation dailies and relevant meetings, and provide feedback to other team members.
• Identify and call attention to potential issues and problems at the earliest possible stage and recommend appropriate solutions for best possible outcome.
• Maintain a high level of communication with and understanding of the other teams involved in the project while keeping an ongoing awareness of the show schedule.
• Maintain a high level of quality of work while juggling multiple shots.
• Complete required tasks within the given deadlines.
Requirements:
• Proficient in Maya.
• Experience with live action visual effects animation work.
• Understanding of animation principles and strong sense of cinematic language required.
• Work should demonstrate the ability to define character personality, create fluid motion, organic movement, sense of weight, and physical believability.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and take direction professionally.
• Technical ability and patience for troubleshooting issues.
• Experience with creative problem-solving.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to think critically about workflow and procedures.
• Quadruped animation experience preferred.
• A background in art, performance, acting, storytelling, sculpting, stop-motion, traditional animation, puppeteering, and motion capture is helpful.
