Manager, Deal Analysis & Disney+ (Sales Planning)
Job Summary:
The candidate will be directly responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely availability of all content (long form feature films, originals, episodic content, promos, bonus, interstitials, etc.) for Disney's SVOD service in Canada.
Partnering with the SVOD Programming team, the individual will lead his/her project hire analyst in maximizing and optimizing the content availability, surfacing and clearing restrictions, and providing license periods to schedule and allow the delivery to Disney Streaming Services. This person will unpack the complex restrictions from existing licenses, MVPD/BDU restrictions, underlying rights/music issues in determining the content availability for Star. Working with the linear channels and with third party licenses, the candidate is also responsible for the accurate availability calculations for all episodic content.
In addition, in collaboration with Canada sales head and sales planning director, the candidate will also provide as needed, any strategic analysis to support negotiations for any key content.
This candidate will also support deal making for 3rd party sales of TWDC content in the US and Canada. More specifically, this person will provide day-to-day support of TWDC's content sales activities with select accounts by ensuring robust deal analysis and content valuation.
Responsibilities:
Manage the availabilities and license of all content for Star Canada: Working directly with the SVOD Programming Strategy team, provide accurate availabilities of content, including calculating start and end dates based on complex holdback rules, airdates, and windowing strategy. This role requires the ability to digest complex licenses and deal restrictions. The role is directly responsible for sending the accurate license information to Disney Streaming Services (at the media, territory, language level). The individual will lead his/her team to apply holdbacks back to our various licensing systems as required.
Support negotiations for content for the SVOD service: Partnering with SVOD Programming team and Canada sales team, provide deal and financial analysis and support negotiations pertaining to specific rights for key content. This role requires the ability to review and interpret complex rights and restrictions from existing license agreements, and frame the financial impact of the negotiations.
Provide support for complex deal analysis for a portfolio of US and Canadian clients: This role requires direct experience both doing and managing financial and contractual analysis to support deal making real-time. Additionally, a proven track record in synthesizing complex analysis into digestible and easily-interpreted recommendations is critical.
Basic Qualifications:
• 5 years in the media & entertainment industry
• 3 years of direct experience with media distribution
• Deep experience with financial modeling, complex financial analysis, advanced Excel skills and experience with analyzing large amounts of data
• Strong facility with contractual drafting, interpretation and analysis
• Proven track record in effectively managing and building strong relationships with a broad array of stakeholders
• Some experience in international media distribution
