Director, D&I Communications and Branding (Project Hire)
Job Summary:
Note: The formal title of this role is Director, Talent Communications, D&I and is a 12 month project hire or internal temporary assignment status
The Director, TWDC Talent Communications is responsible for: driving internal understanding of TWDC position and efforts relating to D&I strategy and initiatives; ensure external understanding of TWDC D&I efforts (people, culture and market); and help manage reputational risk in the D&I space. This position will work very closely with TWDC SVP and Chief Diversity Officer and D&I COE leadership/executive team on strategy and prioritization. In addition, the person in this role will: work closely with the enterprise social responsibility (ESR) team to raise awareness of ESR efforts to current and prospective employees; serve as a liaison to the TWDC talent acquisition marketing team in order to bridge efforts between communications (segment and corporate/enterprise) and TA marketing in order to maximize efforts and closely align TA efforts with business priorities.
This position is primarily responsible for and will spend the most amount of time crafting and executing a long-term communication strategy for TWDC D&I. This individual will be responsible for cultivating the TWDC D&I image through a variety of means internally and working with various partners to cultivate the TWDC D&I image externally (stakeholder community and potential employees; will work closely with corporate communications on any media inquiries in this space).
Position will enhance and build TWDC D&I reputation among current employees, potential employees, D&I influencers and stakeholders. Position will work cross-function and cross-segment to: devise and execute communications strategy; create materials; and create approved messaging and positioning. Position will work with key stakeholders and partners, including talent acquisition/recruiters, talent acquisition marketing, corporate communications, segment communications, D&I HR practitioners, and campus recruiting.
This role requires: excellent judgment; initiative in authoring, editing and issuing messages; establishing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of people; interpreting data; participating in related meetings; and identifying opportunities to improve current processes.
This role is a Project Hire with a set employee term of 12 months.
Responsibilities:
• Develop key messages for a variety of different platforms and purposes; ensure consistency of messaging across all platforms
• Find opportunities to drive and enhance TWDC D&I reputation (internally and externally)
• Partner with TA, TA marketing, corporate communications, segment communications, HR D&I leads, campus recruiting
• Identify appropriate TWDC D&I representatives/ambassadors (for internal efforts, social efforts; potential speaking engagements)
• Identify key TWDC business initiatives/stories/examples to highlight for D&I efforts on internal and appropriate external platforms (e.g. -- corporate blogs, TA channels)
• Prepare executive speeches/remarks aligned with the D&I strategy
• Content and asset curation and creation
• Write, edit and proof communications
• Evaluate effectiveness of communication activities and suggest actions for improvement
• Ensure communication content is professional, timely, and relevant
• Support D&I events (e.g. – message or ad creation for events, support/prepare speakers)
• Develop and execute direct-to-stakeholder D&I communications strategy, including a range of regularly-used tools (e.g. – e-newsletters, fact sheets)
• In concert with D&I, corporate communications and others, drive and execute TWDC D&I digital presence
• Stay on top of competitive landscape and emerging trends
• Track reputation where appropriate and use findings and data to inform strategy
• Establish and maintain relationships required to obtain information and/or issue messages
Basic Qualifications:
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to assure successful interaction with senior executives, internal partners, and external contacts

Preferred Qualifications:
• 7-10 years' experience in external communications, journalism or public relations; preferably some experience in and/or familiarity with the D&I space
• Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing
• Demonstrated excellence in managing deadlines, project plans
• Demonstrated excellence using social media platforms
• Must be able to interact with employees at all levels, including senior executives
• Must be able to drive work independently while working well with others
