Job Summary:
Join us for an opportunity to experience the art of animation and be a part of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The Talent Development Program is available for emerging artists and offers up to a 3 month paid position at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Join an immersive Apprentice experience, where participants will work under the guidance of Disney Mentors to develop craft skills.
The Talent Development Editorial Program begins February 2022. Please note, the safety and well-being of our teams is very important to us. We will determine whether this program will be in-person at our Burbank, CA studio or virtual in the coming months based on local state and county ordinance.
Walt Disney Animation Studio Editors help create, translate and enhance the Director's vision onto screen. Editors are an integral part of the filmmaking process from beginning to end, taking all of the elements created in production and assembling them into the film while making key decisions regarding pacing, acting, dialogue, and sound effects.
The IATSE 700 eligible Editorial Apprentice with Walt Disney Animation Studios, will be working directly under the mentorship of an experienced Editorial team to learn aspects of the Editorial and Post Production teams, departments, projects, and pipeline processes at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Overview & Position Requirements:
• 2 years' school, internship, and/or professional experience in a Editorial Capacity; Editorial experience in Animated long form series or feature films a plus
• This apprentice position will be dedicated to learning use of AVID Media Composer for editing, organizing and categorizing editorial projects at Walt Disney Animation Studios; AVID proficiency is required
• Works closely with 2nd Assistant Editors to maintain effectiveness of the AVID by organizing bins, maintaining memory load, and taking old media offline; learns and assists with keeping the AVID working properly and efficiently
• Working knowledge of editorial pipeline and EDI tools (Digital tools) preferred; highly adaptable and comfortable with quickly learning new Editorial tools, systems, techniques and skills
• Strong interest in pursuing professional Editorial work within the Animation Industry is essential; Understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post production processes a plus
• Supports 2nd and 1st Assistant Editors by learning and helping to digitize and organize media; as needed throughout apprenticeship
• Takes notes for Shotgun/Shotgrid software updates and follow up in Editorial department; Shotgun/Shotgrid software proficiency highly preferred
• Proficient with Macintosh, Microsoft Word, Excel, Calendar marker, Keynote, Google calendar and Google docs
• Enthusiasm for diving into the technical, detail-oriented tasks; comfortable with innovative problem solving
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, change course of action quickly and maintain professionalism under pressure
• People skills; including the ability to work with and maintain relationships with vendors, mentors, teams and departments
Education
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Film, Digital Media, related field or equivalent work experience required
This is an IATSE Local 700 position covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
