The Rockefeller Company of New York is a multi-faceted entertainment company that specializes in high quality family entertainment for the stage, screen, and immersive events for domestic and international markets.
Our productions include beloved characters from iconic properties such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Paddington Bear, That Golden Girls Show, Disney's Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation, Pixar Putt and the Awesome Lego Exhibition along with several other major titles in development.
We are looking for a detailed-oriented Business Manager with a proactive approach to focus on logistics and financial planning for a diverse slate of projects that cover multiple-departments. The perfect candidate will have 10+ years management agency experience and/or entertainment industry experience (e.g. film and television).
Flexible work environment between home, office, and off-site meetings as required. Agility, self-motivation and high level of accuracy and accountability is required.
Responsibilities
• Create detailed budgets and recoupment schedules for live shows to include self-presented and touring productions, film/television projects and immersive events
• Monitor companywide expenditures across all departments and initiatives
• Forecast financial projections for upcoming productions or events
• Participate in the creation of timelines for projects and maintain those schedules with internal and external stakeholders
• Develop and maintain efficient record keeping processes and procedures
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders
• Generate and issue contracts for external vendors, internal new hires and members of production teams
• Deal with personnel and HR issues
• Handle business Licenses and state sales tax alongside Head of Finance
• Ensure that the company is adequately covered with insurance, and adjusting coverage and gaining COI's for individual projects when required
• Reviewing contracts and consulting legal counsel when necessary.
Requirements
• 10+ years demonstrated, broad based management experience within an agency or the entertainment industry
• The ability to lead, adapt and embrace change
• A successful candidate must be a big picture thinker with a keen understanding of the daily operations of an entertainment company and the lifecycle of productions from conception to closing.
• Experience with logistical and financial planning with an emphasis on risk management
• Excellent organizational and research skills with the ability to analyze data sets
• Strong (and effective) negotiation and interpersonal communication skills to interact in person, telephone, Zoom and via email
• Ability to work independently yet be collaborative and engaged with all other employees
• A background in strategy, analytics and an understanding of law is beneficial.
