The Special Events Intern provides critical support for the Development team, assisting the Manager of Special Events with the planning and execution of all summer special events at the Mann.
This position is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, outgoing individual who is highly detail oriented, self-motivated, and organized with excellent communication and time management skills. This position is ideal for a self-starting individual with some Development and/or event planning experience.
This person should be comfortable meeting and interacting with a variety of patrons, donors, and staff and be passionate about the Mann's mission to serve our community. The environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to handle multiple projects at once under tight deadlines.
The Special Events Intern reports directly to the Manager of Development Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Interact with members in the Donor Terrace & Garden at summer concerts and ensure donors have a positive experience
• Assist the Manager of Special Events in the planning and execution of all special events, including but not limited to the following:
o Annual Party in the Park gala
o President's dinners
o Donor cultivation dinners
o Board and Council dinners
o Corporate special events
• Coordinate the setup of the Donor Terrace & Garden prior to summer concerts
• Communicate with high-level prospects and donors via phone and email to confirm attendance at events
• Conduct event attendee research
• Solicit organizations for auction donations
Requirements:
• Must be extremely detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
• Must demonstrate excellent telephone, writing, verbal, and personal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize duties, and multitask under tight deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred
• Experience with Archtics, Raiser's Edge, or other fundraising software a plus
• Must have a reliable form of transportation
This internship includes a $1,000 stipend, half of which is paid at the halfway point (on or around July 18th) and the other half upon completion of the internship (on or around September 5th). In order to trigger the stipend payment, successful candidates must meet the time commitment criteria:
• Time commitment for the internship is 32 to 35 hours per week
• May 31st through August 31st (though availability earlier in May and during September is preferred)
Interns will work primarily at the Mann's offices located in Center City Philadelphia, with event support on nights and weekends at the venue in West Philadelphia. The Mann is happy to provide documentation for college or university credit, though current enrollment is not required.
