Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Mann Center for the Performing Arts is committed to creating innovative and engaging programming that sparks young imaginations, instills a sense of wonder and fosters a lifelong love of the arts. Reporting to the Director of Education and Community Engagement, this role will provide key administrative support to the Education and Community Engagement Department. This role requires an energetic, conscientious and detail oriented individual who enjoys making a difference, being part of a team, takes pride in their work and thrives in a fast-paced office setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
• General administrative duties, online research and data entry
• Assist with taking, confirming and tracking performance reservations
• Assist with coordinating transportation for sponsored schools to education programs
• Assist with compiling evaluation data for educational programs and maintain thorough records
• Assist with the creation of study guides for all Education and Community Engagement events
• Assist with the planning and handling of final details for all education and community engagement events
• Serve as additional support on distribution of education and community engagement documentation
• Attend all scheduled education performances, occasional weekend community engagement events when required and provide assistance for Mann main stage concerts as needed
• Other duties as assigned for smooth operations of Education and Community Engagement Department
Requirements:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Publisher preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
• Must have a very good phone manners and a professional demeanor at all times
• Strong writing skills
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of team
• Event planning or performing arts-related experience is encouraged, but is not required
This internship includes a $1,000 stipend, half of which is paid at the halfway point (on or around July 18th) and the other half upon completion of the internship (on or around September 5th). In order to trigger the stipend payment, successful candidates must meet the time commitment criteria:
• Time commitment for the internship is 32 to 35 hours per week
• May 31st through August 31st (though availability earlier in May and during September is preferred)
Interns will work primarily at the Mann's offices located in Center City Philadelphia, with event support on nights and weekends at the venue in West Philadelphia. The Mann is happy to provide documentation for college or university credit, though current enrollment is not required.
