Audio Program Manager (Contract)
The Gotham Film & Media Institute (formerly IFP) is a non-profit dedicated to discovering, supporting and celebrating the people and projects that shape the future of story. The Gotham is seeking a contract Audio Program Manager to support the organization's upcoming audio initiatives which include an incubator to support audio creators and audio programming at The Gotham's annual project Market Gotham Week. The Gotham Week audio programming includes both conference programming and supporting creators while they connect with industry at the project market.
The position is contract and would begin in March 2021 until October 2021 (date may be longer based on start date of incubator program). The candidate is expected to work remotely.
Job Responsibilities:
Incubator
• Develop incubator concept in conjunction with Gotham programming and business development teams. Select program curriculum, mentors, workshop leaders, etc.
• Oversee and execute selection process for incubator participants.
• Work with marketing team to develop marketing plan and materials to market incubator.
• Work with business development team to support on sponsor related requests pertaining to the program.
• Oversee and launch incubator.
• Act as internal contact for incubator participants throughout program.
• Provide Gotham leadership team with consistent updates on status and progress of incubator.
• Provide wrap report on program and suggest ideas for improvement/changes in the future.
Gotham Week Project Market
• Update application/timeline for application process for Gotham Week Project Market creator applicants.
• Work with marketing team to develop call for entries materials and timeline.
• Work with Gotham Week Project Market team to utilize existing review process to evaluate and select participants.
• Oversee individual outreach related to receiving submissions, meaning spreading the word about the call for entries, corresponding with prospective aspects, and troubleshooting any tech-issues related to submissions.
• In conjunction with Filmmaker Registration Manager, ensure that all required deadlines for selected participants are met and tech issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
• Execute selection process of participants and notification process.
• Work with Gotham Week Project Market team to source and invite industry to register and attend the project market. This includes follow up to ensure industry presence at the event.
• Develop a potential pre-Gotham Week industry event to showcase Gotham Week selected projects.
• Serve as primary point-of-contact for all selected participants, ensuring correspondence and experience prior to and during Gotham Week is seamless and clear, including a pre-Gotham Week orientation for selected projects.
• Manage Audio Meetings Coordinator, ensuring all industry-requested meetings with selected projects are scheduled in accordance with availabilities and time zones, among other managerial responsibilities.
• Serve as on-site support during Gotham Week, ensuring virtual meetings is seamless and productive for all participants.
• Provide wrap report with timeline and duties.
Gotham Week Conference
• Work with The Gotham Deputy Director and Senior Director of Business Development to determine topics for Audio related programming during Gotham Week's conference.
• Work with the Development team on executing sponsored related activities during the conference.
• Select and secure panelists for conference panels.
• Work with PR and marketing team to determine marketing strategy/PR/materials to promote Audio conference programming.
• Onsite execution of panels.
• Provide wrap report with timeline and duties.
Gotham Audio Awards
• Work with Senior Director of Business Development and Executive Director to play a supportive role to the advisory committee, planning and execution of our annual audio award program.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field - e.g. Film, TV Production, Audio Production, Journalism, Liberal Arts;
• At least 4-5 years of directly related experience, e.g. audio production, podcast network experience, non-profit programming experience
• At least 4-5 years of event production experience
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. podcast industry (creators and industry)
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to evaluate audio projects and provide creative feedback
• Outstanding organizational skills and ability take initiative and self-manage workload while performing well in a fast-paced environment and against deadlines
• Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise tactfully with Industry professionals at all levels
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking and issuing information
• Excellent knowledge of new platforms, mediums and storytelling formats
• Diversity of thought and culture is important as well as inclusive work attitude
• Strong work ethic and ability to maintain a positive attitude with a flexible and collaborative approach at all times to work cross-departmentally within the organization
• Working knowledge and proficiency in database use, Zoom, Slack, and ability to adapt my virtual tools for events and programming
