We are currently seeking a Traffic Manager. We are a small strong team dedicated to distributing, producing premium lifestyle content reflecting Africa's influence on the world. We collaborate with producer from Africa and around the globe to bring contemporary stories, authentic voices and high quality productions to audience worldwide.
The AFRICA CHANNEL's Broadcast Traffic Manager is responsible for implementing and managing the process of trafficking for all on-air promotional elements for broadcast. This position oversees the implementation, negotiation and maintenance of media plans across all channels such as Cable TV, Radio, and OTT. This role works closely with the Marketing team as well as with our external media partners. This individual relies heavily on their exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills. This individual possesses strong functional knowledge of Traffic and Network Operations as well as knowledge of Ad Sales.
THE AFRICA CHANNEL'S Traffic Manager is highly proactive and takes initiative. This individual works both independently with minimal supervision and collaborates as part of a team. This individual relies heavily on their exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills. This individual possesses strong functional knowledge of Traffic and Network Operations as well as knowledge of Ad Sales.
This is full-time position Monday - Friday with minimal after hours and weekend hours when needed
Primary job duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for the scheduling of all on-air sales and promotional elements into the traffic system
Work with AD agencies and Sales departments on managing daily commercial inventory and logs in order to ensure air times and separation compliance is met
Coordinate delivery of all on-air elements to Broadcast Operations/Post Team and providing House codes
Manage broadcast logs and generate Pre and Post reports logs to reconcile against daily broadcast schedule
Troubleshoot and resolve any traffic scheduling issues to ensure 24/7 on-air programming
Works closely with Sales and Marketing Teams for all sponsorship accommodations to ensure accurate placement of spots and billboards
Track weekly/monthly estimated spends across all media types
Interact routinely with the Sales and Marketing Teams to create special packaging of media and to grow revenue budget goals
Grow and foster relationships with existing and potential clients by strategizing on the best delivery of campaigns
Act as a liaison with all departments to coordinate and manage the flow of information as it relates to implementing each campaign
Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Teams to establish annual ad sales budgets
Communicate and resolve copy related issues with Sales and management to maximize inventory
Works closely with Post Dept. to ensure spots are delivered and prepped for broadcast.
Manage the scheduling of VOD and digital commercial materials.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
SKILLS:
· Candidates should be comfortable speaking to TV, Radio, and Digital representatives.
· Must be a creative thinker and exhibit a can-do attitude on all assignments.
· Be an organized problem solver with the ability to juggle projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines under pressure.
· This individual relies heavily on their exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
· This individual possesses strong functional knowledge of Traffic and Network Operations as well as knowledge of Ad Sales.
REQUIREMENTS:
At least 3 - 5 years' experience in broadcast traffic dept.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
Must have ability to multitask, effectively coordinate changing priorities, and handle tight deadlines.
Good mathematical skills required
Word, Excel, Outlook and Web Applications a must. PC and Mac knowledge required.
Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills are necessary.
Ability to work closely with others a must.
Must be extremely detail oriented, and thrive on working in an intense, fast-passed, deadline-oriented environment.
Knowledge of post-production is a plus.
May be required to work off hours to resolve any scheduling issues
