The Business Development Director position is based at 3555 Hayden Studios in Culver City, California, a state-of-the-art facility which houses Tennis Channel's HD Technical Operations center and specializes in groundbreaking media production and compelling broadcast channel origination. Client activity may include studio productions, studio and control room productions, channel origination, live broadcast integration, post-production and media management. Short duration projects or a recurring long-term contract are welcome.
The position: As the Head of the Client Services Department, the Business Development Director will demonstrate an understanding of technological trends in the industry and how these trends impact TV, particularly sports production and on-air operations workflows. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the organization's quest for excellence and superior performance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Developing prospects for new business for each of the Hayden Studios product lines
• Developing and implementing customer initiatives in order to attract new business opportunities. This involves generating sales engagements through the candidate's own database of industry contacts as well as reaching new clients.
• Defining technical and operational parameters and identifying the business scope of potential projects
• Producing high quality proposals for clients in a timely and accurate fashion
• Collaborating and interfacing with multiple personnel including the Executive lead, the Operations department and business departments, to create compelling new business solutions
• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships and developing, negotiating and closing competitive business transactions
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10+ years of production/broadcast industry experience, including a strong understanding of technical and operational aspects of day-to-day television production
• Prior experience in business development and/or sales experience is required
• Previous experience with production facilities, production trucks, and network original services is preferred
• A track record of successfully generating million dollar sales and the ability to build relationships at all levels, all the way up to corporate level
• Solid knowledge in all areas of studio production technology, including green screen and virtual set production and related technical equipment; post production; and an understanding of on-air operations, signal distribution technology and resources.
• An understanding of file-based workflows and Internet protocols, technologies and underlying systems is desirable
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and willingness to learn new technologies
