The AR/VR Technical Producer coordinates with production to implement new AR elements for the live broadcast workflow for both studio and live remotes. The AR/VR Technical Producer is an experienced AR specialist who supports live studio and remote productions. This individual programs and maintains the Ross Voyager and Unreal Engine systems, as well as other equipment associated with the AR. An essential component of the network's programming is the integration of over 2000 hours of live feeds from around the world. A large portion of our live events take place during the early morning or overnight shifts, with a heavy concentration of activity on Fridays through Sundays.
This role is based in our state-of-the-art office in Santa Monica, CA. Our AR/VR Technical Producer will work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the end-to-end production of AR/VR and real-time graphics elements for live broadcasts, studio shows, and special events.
• Interface with Senior Production and Creative staff to understand production's technical needs and give technical solutions for the integration of AR/VR elements into Live productions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting on a large variety of computer and electronic devices in-house or at remote locations, including but not limited to video equipment and/or audio switching equipment, processing and monitoring equipment, HD cameras, Fiber/ copper encoding, decoding, and streaming equipment.
• Maintain broadcast computer-based equipment, software, hardware, and local area network.
• Trains and mentors, the engineering and production teams on the integration of the equipment used in the AR process and remote production equipment.
• Respond to troubled calls with the computer equipment (sometimes after regular business hours).
• Keep software versions up to date, ensure software license compliance and follow all corporate directives for IT security.
• Demonstrate a consistently high standard of engineering practices, including observing OSHA safety rules, installing new equipment using CAD drawings and elevations, intuitive cable management and labeling, submitting updates to engineering documentation, and creating user SOPs.
• Assist and advise in planning of future equipment purchases and installation, required by production, and provides budgetary recommendations.
• Maintain flexible hours during live remotes throughout the year.
• May be required to travel to different remote locations throughout the year to support our remote productions.
Required qualifications:
• Minimum 7 years of Live Studio and Remote AR/VR Production
• Proficiency with camera tracking systems like N-CAM and STYPE
• Knowledge and proficiency in Unreal Engine software, with the ability to insert created elements from production and insert
• Ability to scan, measure, create, and insert actors into Unreal Engine environments
• Demonstrates a modern, forward-thinking skill set, strong collaboration mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
• Dedication to high-quality production and modern broadcast technology standards
• Deep knowledge of live studio and remote workflows relating to live broadcasts, including signal delivery systems
• Experience designing and installing remote production facilities
