Responsibilities
Role Purpose
The VP of Human Resources is needed to provide strategic HR Leadership for NBCUniversal's two Owned and Operated TV Stations in Los Angeles, KNBC (NBC) and KVEA (Telemundo), which are in the 2nd largest media market.
Responsibilities
• As leader of a 3 person team, specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead and leverage HR processes and drive key HR initiatives across both television stations, including staffing, performance management, compensation planning, succession planning, training and development, rewards & recognition, organizational effectiveness and employee communication
• Create and execute a comprehensive employee relations strategy
• Partner and collaborate with various business leaders on growth strategies and cost challenges; provide HR guidance and input on decisions and execute in order to enable these strategies
• Work with managers to build a career path for employees, identifying opportunities for training, new skill acquisition, and advancement
• Work closely with Labor Relations on collective bargaining issues, resolving grievances, and furthering NBCU's relationships with its unions
• Help to drive change within the organization, to include adoption of new technologies, workflows, staffing models, and organization structures
• Identify, select, develop and retain world-class talent and ensure a dynamic pipeline
• Provide executive coaching to department leaders, offering feedback and advice on employee and organizational issues
• Uncover, assess and propose opportunities for HR process improvements
• Provide interpretation of HR policies, practices and procedures to employees and managers
• Work with leaders and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment, which encourages the full use of diverse talents and abilities; act as an employee advocate; help drive various corporate and division business initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
• Minimum of 7 years of professional HR experience

Desired Characteristics
• MBA or master' degree preferred; HR certification desired
• Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated facilitation and coaching skills
• Previous Employee Relations/Labor Relations experience
Bi-Lingual English/Spanish or with working knowledge of Spanish
• Strong business acumen, facilitation, conflict resolution and communication skills
• Knowledge and practical application of HR disciplines including employment and labor laws, employee relations, management & leadership development, performance management, organizational design and compensation philosophies and knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety
• Strong business partnership: able to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders
• Project and process management skills, demonstrated track record of delivering results
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong client-support orientation, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and with a wide range of clients, individually and in groups
• Strong employee-relations skill set; can earn trust and credibility with employees in assigned groups
• Open and easily approachable
• Previous experience with a union-represented workforce is a plus
• Proven influencer; demonstrated ability to coach and counsel both employees and management
• Basic knowledge of Labor Relations
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and lead change
• Takes ownership; able to establish self as the 'go-to' HR resource for client organizations
• Prior media/television industry experience preferred
