Data Science Graduate Research Fellow (Fall 2019)
Applied Analytics is a WarnerMedia company based in Boston. We use data and advanced analytics to model, predict, and influence key outcomes and decision-making within one of the largest media companies in the world. Our Graduate Research Fellows will build quantitative and programming skills in an exciting and high profile business context, playing a key role in expanding WarnerMedia's data science capabilities across diverse entertainment properties.
Applied Analytics is seeking current graduate students pursuing degrees in statistics, computational and data science, physical sciences, quantitative social sciences, or related fields. Students pursuing work touching on one of the following specializations are preferred:
• Representations of video and audio
• Agent-based modeling
• Sequence or time-series modeling
• Hierarchical Bayesian modeling
We will work with fellows to tailor projects to their interests and expertise. Past projects have included:
• Build an agent-based simulation to optimize marketing strategy
• Update our box office prediction models with new data and features
• Analyze movie trailers with a deep learning model to predict audience reception
The logistics of the fellow role are flexible, with a nominal commitment of 10 hours per week and lasting one or two semesters in duration. Selected candidate(s) will be paid a competitive hourly rate and provided with access to proprietary datasets and computational resources, as needed. Fellows are typically co-located with the Boston-based Applied Analytics team, but remote applicants will be considered. When appropriate, we actively encourage and support efforts to pursue academic publication.
