Software Developer I
We are looking for a caring, collaborative, and service oriented human...who also happens to love working with Ruby on Rails. This position is responsible for the development, operation, and support of current and future internal baseball operations software. Our developer will collaborate with the entire baseball operations organization including front office personnel, scouts and coaches. This role will handle all aspects of debugging new and existing applications, working with IT to ensure smooth operation of all internal software, bug fixes and researching the codebase for potential improvements. Our new developer will have strong relationship management and services skills to keep our end users engaged while getting them up and running.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintain existing software applications
• Design and develop new applications and features
• Collect requirements for new features from non-technical users and implement them accordingly
• Identify and correct bugs quickly
• Document code and support procedures thoroughly
• Train end users on new applications/features
• Work closely with analysts to develop new features
• Perform ad hoc queries and analysis in support of general Baseball Ops tasks
• Collect relevant, publicly available data using various applications
• Work closely with IT on user administration and general troubleshooting
Experience, Skills & Education:
• Solid experience with Ruby on Rails
• Discipline to work with minimal supervision while still meeting deadlines
• Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
• Familiarity with relational database design and administration (Microsoft SQL Server and MySql preferred)
• Experience with git version control software
• Experience in supporting and maintaining large, established applications
