Part Time Unpaid Internship
The sustained success of the Tampa Bay Rays is impossible without a steady flow of championship caliber major league players. Our mission is to acquire premium talent and to give every player in the Rays organization the best possible chance to reach the major leagues. This internship focuses primarily on key aspects of our player development and international scouting processes including: video, cultural assimilation, minor league logistics and administration. It also includes exposure to player evaluation at extended spring training, Gulf Coast League games and workouts with international amateur players.
Responsibilities
– The primary duties of the internship position will include:
• Assisting with player development and international operations administration from spring training through the championship season.
• Assisting with the coordination of English classes, tutoring sessions and cultural outings for Latin American players.
• Assisting with video needs at Charlotte Sports Park including bullpen sessions, game footage and workouts.
• Cutting and organizing international scouting video clips on the Rays video server.
• Various projects related to our international scouting process.
• Operating Trackman for Gulf Coast League and Florida State League Games at Charlotte Sports Park as needed.
• Assist with player housing logistics.
• Conduct airport transfers throughout the season.
Qualifications
– The ideal candidate will have:
• The ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to take on tasks and responsibility outside the realm of core duties.
• Passion for baseball with a strong interest in baseball operations.
• Independent problem solving abilities.
• Desire to learn and improve knowledge of technology and baseball systems.
