Full Time Job
The Tampa Bay Rays Communications department is seeking a coordinator for a newly created full-time position. This position will have a primary focus on baseball information, and a secondary focus on team history, record-keeping and archiving. Any applicant must have excellent research skills, and be a college graduate able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
include:
• Assist with the production of the annual Media Guide and Postseason Guide, including statistical charts, and Records & History and Minor League sections
• Update statistics for Pregame Notes, as well as starting pitcher and hitter/bullpen capsules
• Produce roster, lineup sheets and upcoming series preview packet
• Send roster moves and game notes via the @RaysPR Twitter account
• Organize club's historical archives and work with other departments to help identify opportunities for growth
• Lead production of MLB First-Year Player Draft media information, including press releases and player info
• Compile the daily Minor League Report
• Summarize news stories and compile press clips on a daily basis
• Prepare statistical packets for media
• Assist with press releases, Postgame Notes and other projects as assigned
Requirements:
• Prior sports experience in media relations or sports information
• Highly knowledgeable in baseball statistics, terminology and rules; strong familiarity with MLB teams and players, both current and past
• Highly skilled researcher with experience using baseball statistical databases and search functions
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Detail- and deadline-oriented
• Highly motivated and well organized
• Proficient in Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word and Excel
• Interest and familiarity with baseball history is a huge plus
