Vice President, Engineering

TakePart, the digital division of Participant Media, is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead the analysis, development, management, and maintenance of technical systems. TakePart is among the web's top pro-social media brands and the digital arm of Participant Media, the entertainment company behind groundbreaking documentary and narrative features such as Contagion, Food Inc, An Inconvenient Truth, and The Help. This is an exciting role at a rapidly growing media company whose mission is to create entertainment that inspires and compels social change.

TakePart is primarily a publishing platform built on Drupal, with extensive customization.

Ideal candidate will be a ''player-coach'' with proven management skills and a hands-on approach to ship products and resolve technical issues.
Responsibilities:
• System wide architecture and platform management (e.g. security, stability, capacity planning)
• Oversee technical roadmap and provide input to product roadmap
• Develop implement, and supervise software development lifecycle
• Manage scope, schedule, resources, and budget
• Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions
• Serve as escalation point for technical issues and technical vendor management.
• Vet new technical solutions and manage technical research projects in response to business opportunities and client requests.
• Produce SOWs, RFPs and SLAs for tech vendors
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery for all product releases
• Ensure all systems can perform at scale
• Recruit and retain top-notch talent
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability

Qualifications:
• 7+ years experience in internet software development
• 3+ years managing technical resources
• 2+ years hands-on development on the Drupal platform or with advanced PHP
• Comfort with mobile, tablet and other emerging platforms
• Knowledge of UI frameworks such as jQuery and HTML5
• Experience with scrum and other agile software development methodologies
• Data-driven approach to decision-making
