The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Television, Radio & Film (TRF) Department to start August 19, 2019. The successful candidate will develop and teach media business courses to students studying television, film, and evolving visual media, and will play a key role in creating synergies that keep the Newhouse School at the crest of trends in the entertainment industry. Candidates should have significant professional experience working as a digital-media or television executive in one or more of the following areas: strategic planning, deal-making, distribution and marketing, content licensing, VR/AR technologies and immersive media, and talent management. Preferred applicants are playing a part in disrupting old-media models, serving in leadership roles at companies such as streaming media services, television networks, studios, talent rep firms, and major production companies. Regardless of specialization, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellent teaching skills and a strong potential to be a thought leader and gain national visibility in their field.
For full description and online application instructions, go to our website. Cover letter, resume or vitae, a teaching philosophy statement and a list of four references with names, email addresses and phone numbers must be included in the online application. Review of applications begins November 15, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
Syracuse University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to equality of opportunity and a diverse work force. Women, military veterans, individuals with disabilities, and members of other traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
