Why should you join us?
Every Sunshiner has a say, from brainstorming pitch ideas to leading client relationships, from participating to business development, from welcome emails to all-staff presentations - your voice matters to us. We encourage curiosity, especially when it's joined with initiative! Our clients are important (of course they are!), but more important are our team members. More than ¼ of us have been with the company for 4+ years!
So, what are we looking for?
We have an immediate opening for an Account Executive in our Los Angeles Office. This is a role for someone who wants to dabble in multiple industries yet has an avid interest in food, health, wellness, travel, and the lifestyle space. You're someone who reads Eater LA every morning to get the scoop on the latest restaurant and bar openings. You have an opinion on which juicery is the best in each major city. You might even wonder if we are going to start paying our Classpass bills in cryptocurrency one day. Do you stay up-to-date on pop culture and the latest lifestyle trends? You're it for us!
Responsibilities Include:
• Assist in conceptualizing public relations and marketing strategies and ensuring that quality and relevant coverage is executed as developed.
• Drafting, editing and proofreading materials including press releases, tweets, blog content, pitch letters, fact sheets, marketing copy, Q and A's, briefing notes, and client correspondence
• Conducting client media monitoring and developing media coverage/placement and analysis reports
• Assist in planning and executing media-specific events including media dinners, influencer events and press conferences. Organize for media to attend events and provide media with on-site assistance.
• Scheduling and providing logistical support for client meetings
• Supporting senior managers on achieving deliverables for a full roster of clients (average of 4 - 6)
• Creating and maintaining media contact lists to build relationships with new publications and media contacts
• Participating in new business meetings, creating proposals as needed
• Researching key client information including business strategy, products and services, key customers and competitors, and social media platforms for existing and new opportunities
• Working with senior management to respond to client requests and ensure requests are taken care of in an efficient manner
• Support administration of accounts including developing agendas, meeting recaps, activity reports, client status reports, budget trackers, and updating press kits.
You should apply if:
• You have about 3+ years of experience in communications, public relations, integrated media relations, etc. If you don't, we're open to hearing you out.
• You have creative and attention-grabbing writing chops. Your editing chops are great too!
• You have a well-rounded understanding of the consumer/lifestyle/food/hospitality industries
• You have a growing list of relationships with media across a variety of verticals and know how to leverage those relationships to secure impactful media opportunities
• You have strong decision-making abilities and accountability; this is an important role, own it!
• You have an innate curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit…have a suggestion on making something better? We encourage you to do it!
• You are incredibly organized, detailoriented (see what I did there?) and able to excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously - say THAT five times fast!
• You're willing to work select evenings, weekends and travel - our clients often need us to GO, GO, GO!
• You enjoy overdelivering rather than meeting expectations and take genuine pride in being part of something good.
• You make friends wherever you go. I mean, your co-workers are basically your roommates…don't be uncool - ?
You don't HAVE to have this, but it sure would be nice:
• A passion for pop culture, social good, and entertainment
• A track record of success in consumer public relations account management - a portfolio of media placements in local, regional and national media outlets would be incredibly helpful!
• Previous experience using media research tools like Cision
