POSITION OVERVIEW
The Impact, Engagement, and Advocacy (IEA) team seeks a skilled community builder to serve as Senior Manager, Utah Programs. Based in our Park City, Utah office, this role will curate strategic initiatives to engage historically underrepresented artists and audiences located in Salt Lake City and surrounding communities. The ideal candidate shares a passion for independent film and has experience in community outreach, civic engagement, and/or social justice.
Working closely under the direction of the Director, Community Programs, this role will contribute to Utah Program's strategic planning, which encompasses cross-departmental initiatives, artist and audience development, and program design. The Senior Manager will serve as a Sundance Institute representative in the Salt Lake and Park City communities (in particular); including community meetings, partnership events, and local gatherings.
Other top priorities include…
• Identify, cultivate, and nurture relationships with artists, alumni, arts organizations, cultural, and social justice organizations and leaders to develop partnership opportunities. Special focus on collaborations with organizations from underrepresented and diverse communities.
• Liaise with local Utah talent and conduct outreach to actively solicit potential Sundance fellows and program applicants.
• Collaborate with programming team(s) as needed to curate and select films to show to audiences based on goals for screening.
• Collaborate with marketing on year-round screening programming selection to create engaging copy material and recommend different outreach approaches through print or virtual to reach underrepresented communities.
• Lead internal and external community committees and task forces related to identifying the needs of the community, e.g. design a unique program and create outreach materials to reach under-represented in our community programs.
• Create a calendar of yearly community events that the Institute can attend to represent our organization and programs and partner with Human Resources to engage with the community.
• Create metric benchmarks for the community programs then track those metrics for evaluation and grant reporting.
• Maintain community program budget/actuals, working with operations and production leads to ensure expenses stay within the allocated budget.
• Outreach to Utah organizations to establish ticketing needs and provide tickets or access to programs.
• Program oversight for Utah student screening programs during the Festival.
• Keep updated comprehensive research on local social and art organizations, universities, etc. and compiles contact information by geographic location.
• Create collaboration agreements, ensure proper recognition, and payments to collaborators.
• Work with the Institute's Advancement team on grant proposals and develop ideas for new funding sources.
You have the following direct or transferable skill-sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 5 years experience in outreach, engagement, and public programming for media arts and/or cultural organizations.
• Passion for independent film and Sundance Institute's mission and connecting artists to audiences.
• Demonstrated commitment to championing (and programming for) equity and access for underrepresented artists and audiences with expertise working with diverse and multilingual communities.
• Experience implementing and executing programs with a team of people, as well as independently
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking and issuing information, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills including self-management of work schedule – ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort with public speaking.
• Ability to travel locally across Utah to meet with community constituents; a flexibility to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines.
• Bilingual with preference to ability to speak and write Spanish.
