Overview:
We are looking for a strong and passionate leader to be part of our Volunteer team, inside our Human Resources Department.
This position will manage the activities of Sundance Institute's Volunteer Program to ensure compliance with policies and practices across all offices and programs. Additionally works across the organization to create a culture of inclusion and accessibility with each program.
The ideal candidate will be a natural leader, with proven management skills and strong communication across different groups of stakeholders.
Things on Your To-do List:
You will:
• Manage activities and functions of the Sundance Institute's volunteer and internship programs.
• Training: you will develop, schedule and facilitate various departmental trainings.
• Lead our volunteer recruitment, encouraging diversity and increasing accessibility within Sundance Institute.
• Manage our group of seasonal staff and volunteers ensuring that our team of employees and volunteers understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles.
• Be in charge of the placement of volunteers to ensure coverage for departments across the organization.
• Assist in the recruitment needs of the Volunteer Department.
• Manage Sundance volunteers and ensure accurate tracking and recording volunteer hours, no-shows, performance information, etc.
• With Assistant Director, proactively reviews processes of programs to ensure accessibility to increase inclusion and diversity within the organization.
• Tracks and maintains volunteer and intern metrics and provides reports as requested.
• Be a key communications point of contact, providing timely, accurate, and professional correspondence to internal and external customers regarding Sundance's volunteer and internship programs, conducting timely communications with volunteers to inform them of their status to volunteer with organization in the future, and other duties as appropriate..
• Facilitates coaching or disciplinary action processes as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills
You'll Need in Your Toolbox:
• 3 years of management, recruiting or related experience.
• Experience creating and conducting training/orientations.
• Strong leadership skills with a background that includes demonstrated excellence in managing employees.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, external vendors, and a variety of people, includes having cultural sensitivity.
• Must be able to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines.
• Ability to lead by example and act with integrity.
Bonus points:
• Bachelor's degree.
• PHR certification.
• Inclusion and diversity certification.
• Volunteer management experience.
• Working knowledge of Shiftboard, Filemaker, or other volunteer databases..
• Experience managing and meeting budget constraints.
