Considerations: Position works full time in our Los Angeles, CA office. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required at key points throughout the year. Travel may be required 2-3 times a year for team meetings. Travel estimated at 1-5%.
Position General Summary:
Sundance Institute champions independent artists in creating new work for screens and stages, because we believe their creative risk-taking and individual perspectives provide delight, perspective, depth, and a foundation for deeper understanding across perceived differences. From the annual Sundance Film Festival to our wide array of grants, labs, fellowships and residencies to supports artists around the world, we seek to advance independent storytelling and advocate for the critical contributions made by artists to our culture. To accomplish its mission, Sundance Institute has an annual operating budget of $50 million dollars; $33 million dollars of this total budget is raised by the Advancement team.
Sundance Institute seeks a driven Campaign Manager to join our Advancement team. The Campaign Manager will assist the day-to-day planning, coordination, and management of a fundraising Campaign to bolster the Institute's endowment, build its first permanent home in Park City, and enhance our capacity to support innovative new projects. The position will provide administrative and logistical support including the management of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts to execute a fundraising plan that seeks gifts over and above annual contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies. The position will be charged with maintaining detailed, accurate and up-to-date information on campaign goals, donors, and prospects. S/he will report to the Chief Advancement Officer and will have extensive interaction with the full Advancement Team, Chief Advancement Officer, Campaign Co-Chairs, Campaign Steering Committee members and Campaign volunteers, managing and stewarding Campaign leadership groups in partnership with Campaign Counsel and the Chief Advancement Officer.
Essential Job Functions and Duties:
• Assists in building strategy and managing logistics to meet set strategies for Campaign meetings and Campaign-related events, including solicitations, cultivation, and stewardship events.
• Facilitates follow-up, as necessary, after Campaign meetings and events.
• Collaborates with Campaign Counsel, the Advancement Team, and the Chief Advancement Officer to develop donor strategy and proposals.
• Collaborates with Campaign Counsel, the Advancement Team, and Coordinators for the Chief Advancement Officer, Executive Director, and Board Relations to advance Campaign activity.
• Prepares materials and records minutes for volunteer Committee meetings.
• Tracks progress and provides timely reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and Campaign Counsel, including progress to the goal and the Campaign pipeline.
• Manages the production and distribution of campaign materials, briefings, etc.
• Manages all follow-up activities necessary to close gifts.
• Drafts Campaign acknowledgment letters and manages the Campaign pledge tracking process.
• Drafts Campaign communications and correspondence.
Position Requirements:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 3 years of professional experience in fundraising, philanthropy or related development work.
• Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
• Strong project coordination skills, with an ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
• Interest in the arts and nonprofit administration.
• Must be proficient in basic software programs (MS Office, Google Applications).
• Ability to work extended hours around key deadlines.
Preferred Education
