Seasonal Festival Associate Manager, High School and Utah Community Outreach
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Festival Associate Manager, High School and Utah Community Outreach is responsible for supporting community outreach and executing the online iteration of the Sundance Film Festival Student Screenings Program and Filmmakers in the Classroom Program, Art of the Short.
Working closely under the direction of the Senior Manager, Community Programs, you will support Sundance Institute's commitment to the Utah community.
This full-time, temporary position is based out of our Park City, Utah office from Wednesday, October 27, 2021 to Friday, February 18, 2022 with regular opportunities to work from home. This role will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned.
Top priorities include, but are not limited to…
• Screening films for content and providing recommendations that engage new artistic ideas, enrich civic dialogue, and spark social change.
• Curating a selection of feature-length and short films that are appropriate for younger audiences and environments with content regulations (i.e. detention centers).
• Conducting outreach to Utah-based learning and residential communities for 13-18 year olds including high schools, rehabilitation centers, detention centers.
• Supporting outreach to Utah-based residents and communities especially BIPOC, LGBTQIA , persons with disabilities, refugees and migrants living across the state of Utah with an emphasis on Salt Lake County and Summit County.
• Assisting with in-person community events such as prepping tabling materials, set-up, teardown, and operations support.
• Providing digital operational support and execution during online community screenings including chat monitoring, zoom support, and Q&A moderation.
• Working collaboratively with administrators and educators to garner interest and ensure a smooth digital experience for participants.
• Providing ongoing and timely communication for groups inquiring about or participating in programs.
• Acting as a representative and liaison for Utah Community Programs with internal and external partners.
• Drafting correspondence and materials, including film schedules, film descriptions, cover letters, content notes, classroom discussion guides, procedures, and evaluations.
• Updating and maintaining Utah-based high school and community contacts databases with accurate and up-to-date information.
• Assisting with slotting and scheduling films for program screenings across digital platforms.
• Providing onsite operational support and execution during events including set-up and teardown.
• Preparing materials needed online events including introduction scripts and run of shows.
• Liaising between the film and programming teams to facilitate onsite introductions and post-screening Q&A discussions.
• Coordinating with the Artist Relations Department to ensure filmmakers or a film representative is scheduled to participate in each screening.
• Collecting program statistics and materials for grant reporting such as attendance, demographics, attrition metrics, screengrabs, and photographs.
• Independently conducting a comprehensive wrap-report including program summary, statistical graphics, and recommendations for future success.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of DMV background check.
• 2 years experience working in high schools, community outreach, online event planning, or related
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a variety of people.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability and ease with public speaking.
• Film programming experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the Utah school system is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases such as Monday.com and proficiency in Google Suite preferred.
