POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager, New Frontier is charged with planning and implementing initiatives of New Frontier at the Sundance Film Festival. The program showcases innovations in storytelling found at the crossroads of film, art, performance, and emerging technologies. New Frontier challenges the status quo as it nurtures work that navitages the expansion of narrative worlds through bleeding-edge technology, and immersive and experiential art. The Manager, New Frontier integrates the curatorial vision of the program with its practical, audience-facing elements, facilitates decision making, and manages engagement with the program.
Working closely under the direction of Chief Curator, New Frontier and Senior Programmer, Sundance Film Festival, the Manager serves as the main point of contact for internal and external inquiries and relations for Sundance Institute's New Frontier. This position works full time and out of our Los Angeles, CA office and is required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends at key points throughout the year. Travel to other Institute offices and events, including the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT is also required.

Department Management and Program Logistics
• Reviewing and annually updating operational and logistical plans to ensure efficiency and that the strategic goals of the program are met.
• Acting as a project manager, working with internal and external stakeholders, to oversee execution of operational and logistical plans.
• Managing timelines and deadlines related to the program across multiple departments and stakeholders.
• Managing seasonal staff, including selecting and training highly effective individuals, delegating appropriate and meaningful work while providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure employees understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles.
• Cultivating relationships with external partners in the New Frontier community and filtering requests for Chief Curator.
• Supporting the Chief Curator with a full range of administrative duties, including maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings and calls, and setting up and organizing file structures.
• Managing program criteria and logistics across multiple departments regarding private viewing hours and program events, including the New Frontier Premiere Party.
• Collaborating with the Pass and Package office within the Ticketing Department and internal stakeholders to coordinate ticket processes, logistics, and internal allocations.
• Managing the flow and accuracy of information related to New Frontier artists and their work to the assigned department representatives for Marketing, Development, Production, Press, Artist Services, Labs, Technology and Programming needs.
• Planning and preparing a written wrap report, coordinating with internal departments to garner feedback and identify areas to streamline and improve for future events.
Program Selection Process and Artist Outreach
• Overseeing the annual submission process with support from the seasonal Coordinator, which includes updating application forms, editing fields and public facing content by working collaboratively with the Programming team and Tech Services to garner feedback and implement changes prior to launch.
• Actively collaborating with the team to review submitted materials to identify best projects to support within the artistic vision of the Chief Curator.
• Acting as the department's key contact to clarify the program's processes from concept to completion, answer questions, manage expectations, request, receive, and route installation requirement information to the production team.
• Researching and tracking potential artists and cutting edge technologies and performing outreach to cultivate a community and encourage submissions.
• Reviewing and proofing New Frontier publication materials.
• Greeting and hosting New Frontier guests, industry, and artists during the Sundance Film Festival.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 3 years nonprofit program management experience and providing high level administrative support.
• Experience interfacing with public facing stakeholders.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information.
• Working knowledge of databases.
• Excellent organizational skills including self-management of work schedule and the ability to multitask.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines.
• Working knowledge of emerging tech fields, including AR/VR/MR/AI.
• Experience with artist relations preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in arts administration, art history, a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
