Part Time Unpaid Internship
Expectations: The Graphic Design Intern position for the Stockton Kings is responsible for creative undertakings by the team across a variety of media including web, print, promotional items and stadium installation/environment. The intern will service all departments with creative or design needs, from initial concepts to final production, execution and/or distribution. The Intern Designer is responsible for maintaining the visual integrity of the team as perceived by the market, and for strengthening brand presence within that market. He or she must demonstrate the ability to supply creative solutions on a daily basis to a variety of requested projects while remaining organized and on task.
The Intern Designer will also participate as a Stage Manager, on game days. As a Stage Manager, this intern will assist in the coordination and execution of all live elements (i.e. in-game promotions, live performances, ceremonies, and presentations) during Stockton Kings home games and events, as needed.
Graphic Design Responsibilities:
• Organize and manage multiple projects in various stages of progress
• Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, installations and other collateral from initial idea to final execution
• Create advertising campaigns that are followed across a variety of collateral
• Develop understanding of target audience and market for specifically aimed marketing pieces
• Present or pitch ideas, briefs, and concepts to various parties, in and out of house
• Prioritize and filter work load coming from all departments through a design request form system
• Design advertisements, print materials, still digital imaging and web graphics
• Meet all advertising and print deadlines
• Contribute to the invention and implementation of marketing/communications initiatives
Stage Manager Responsibilities:
• Assist and participate during rehearsals, including: sound checks (anthem singers, host/emcee mics, communication devices, etc.), opening introductions, in-game promotions, intermission activities, ceremonies, special effects, performers, color guards, etc.
• Prep and manage props and other materials that will be used during the course of the game/event.
• Will act as a liaison between management to set up and cue talent.
• Successfully execute all scripted elements and improvised elements as required and as assigned.
• Work with camera operators to block and set up live promotions while coordinating with contestants, hosts, mascot, promotional team, and additional talent.
• Responsible for ensuring that all in-game elements occur promptly at their pre-designated time, and are executed accurately.
• Promptly relay any and all information to the Entertainment Management should any problems/issues/changes to scripted elements occur.
• Ensure all promotions and activities are accurately and clearly communicated and explained to any/all participants.
Requirements
• Practice a professional attitude when working with outside sources (ie. publications, print partners, creative agencies, vendors)
• Maintain an approachable persona as well as organized and respectful communication with all departments
• Work closely with the Sacramento Kings Marketing and Creative teams to ensure a cohesive message and look across all design projects and materials
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with a positive attitude; committed to teamwork.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Programs
• Knowledge of Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, HTML a plus
• Strong understanding of basketball culture and market preferred
• Prior experience in promotions, marketing, and customer service preferred.
• Prior knowledge of game presentation/production a plus.
• Must be detail oriented and work well with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment.
• Must be available to work every 2018-2019 Stockton Kings home game (nights, weekends, holidays).
