Summary:
The Stockton King's (Sacramento Kings' G-League) Director, Community Impact and PR is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading all aspects of the Community Impact Department's plan to support the overall business strategy of the company and ensures that the organization is proactively responsive to critical local issues and needs while maintaining a visible and positive community presence by performing the Key Responsibilities of the position either personally or through direct reports.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRA's):
• Develop and oversee implementation of integrated and proactive essential communications plans for all Kings events and initiatives.
• Establish, develop, and maintain positive and productive relationships with external partners including: the media, Community Leaders, Civic Leaders, and internal partners including Team Members, League Representatives, Basketball Operations, and Players to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
• Lead collaborative strategic and promotional PR campaigns in support of all Stockton Kings business areas including Sponsorships, Ticket Sales, Marketing, Technology Operations, Community Impact and Business Communications.
• Plan, implement, and represent the Stockton Kings communications strategies, policies, and procedures to the media and community by acting as a spokesperson for business issues.
• Strengthen player reputation through management of PR efforts to promote players off the court pursuits including business interests, hobbies, and charitable efforts with the goal of; a) Securing long lead and short lead features in influential business, news, health, lifestyle and entertainment magazines and b) creating opportunities for players outside of sports.
• Manage corporate contributions including financial and in-kind contributions to charitable organizations, purchase and inventory of charitable merchandise and team's charitable ticket program.
• Provide strategic direction with regards to all charitable contributions and events to directly support organizational objectives and public relations strategy.
• Develop and facilitate a full calendar of special events related to community service outreach and public relations.
• Manage the team's speakers' bureau and celebrity appearances including coaches, players, and senior management. Also oversee and manage the Player Appearance Calendar.
• Works cross-functionally with Marketing department to engage fans and build awareness of team surrounding community events, autograph signings, signature events, theme nights, and auctions/fundraisers.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have experience developing strategic plans and annual business plans, establishing and monitoring deadlines, achievements, tasks, budget limits, and required resources.
• Must be knowledgeable of all laws, policies, and procedures related to charitable contributions. An understanding of public relations strategy as it relates to company giving and tying corporate giving and outreach into overall business strategy to achieve organizational objectives.
• Experience handling cash and management of credit reconciliation pre/post events.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality related to team personnel and team operations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels within the team, NBA, media, and other high level outside contacts
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Must be capable of working extended hours such as nights, weekends, overtime and on-call as needed.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
