STEWART/WHITLEY (New York City-based Casting Office) is seeking a full-time CASTING ASSISTANT to begin work starting November 2018. This is a full-time paid position, not freelance. Applicant should have 1-2 years of NY and/or LA experience as a CASTING ASSISTANT. A background in both Theatre and TV/Film is preferred. We are looking for someone that is passionate, proactive, smart, well-organized, articulate, collaborative, creative with a keen eye for talent - someone who possesses a great sense of humor (especially in stressful situations). Applicant must also be mature, discreet, and trustworthy. Our projects include Theatre (plays and musicals) many of which involve 'star casting'. As such, the ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of the NYC Theatre scene (e.g., actors, theatres, directors, producers) as well as the LA and International TV/Film world.
Responsibilities for the ASSISTANT position include: assisting in the casting an entire project from beginning to end with Artistic Directors, Producers, Directors, and Creatives in the audition room; helping run audition sessions; scheduling appointments with agents/managers; checking and documenting actor availabilities; generating actor (and star) lists; research and script reading. A close attention-to-detail, impeccable phone manner, multitasking and the ability to supervise and mentor interns are essential. Due to heavy computer work, applicants must be well-versed in Mac programs such as Microsoft Office, Breakdown Express, Spotlight, Google apps, Dropbox, Acrobat, online research, all forms of social media.
Main office hours are 10:00AM-6:00PM, Monday-Friday, though during busy times, these hours must be flexible.
