Managers at Startr co. play a significant role in the agency as part of the leadership team and are responsible for the success of their division and their individual accounts. Someone who is excited about working with small businesses and startups, someone who wants to get in on the ground floor of a new agency, someone with six + years of experience working in agencies and with consumer brands, who loves telling stories and is creative - is someone who could succeed in this role.
This position requires a significant amount of autonomy and proven leadership. In order to be considered for a manager position within the agency, you must already be adept at the following:
- A full understanding of the entirety of the media landscape for any client or situation and the ability to craft and guide an outreach strategy to support client objectives
- Proven ability to advise clients on day-to-day tasks, establish yourself as the go-to contact with any requests or inquiries and be seen by the client as their primary source of counsel on important issues and a valuable asset to the overall agency
- Initiating and leading the development and presentation of PR plans for clients and maintaining a timeline of when contracts are due for renewal to ensure timely outreach to clients for future planning
- Understanding and knowledge of budgets and staffing in order to make decisions and recommendations to executive team
- Contributing to generating new business opportunities and developing new business proposals that are thoughtful and original
- Leading PR strategy and overall planning on multiple accounts while consistently thinking of how we can add value through new/additional services
- Managing overall progress and KPIs on accounts and reporting to the executive on each account on a regular basis to ensure you are tracking against client service agreements and scope of work, always with the client perspective in mind
- Mentoring and coaching of account executives to ensure their growth and success
- Critically evaluating staff and contributing to account allocation and hiring
- Working with the full management team and executives to better company quality of work, address employee issues and establish the most effective processes, etc.
Additional roles and responsibilities of a Manager include:
- Monitoring day-to-day tasks on the account and ensuring progress and/or foreseeing concerns that should be addressed before they become problems
- Maintaining positive client relationships and ensuring client sees you as primary counsel on their account
- Providing final review and recommendations for press materials
- Guiding teams on development of story ideas, pitch angles and media strategies to meet client objectives
- Ensuring client goals are being met and quality press is being secured on a daily basis, and providing counsel to the team if goals are not being met
- Checking in on client action plans with account executives to ensure they are being followed and maintained
- Approving monthly updates for each client and sending them by the 5th of every month (at the very latest)
- Mindfully delegating account work while maintaining a sense of an account executive's overall workload and issues that may need to be addressed with other managers or executives
- Coordinating division meetings with other managers to ensure the entire division is on task and learning from each other and reporting updates to the executive team on a regular basis during management meetings
- Initiating and leading employee reviews and development plans
- Representing Startr at company and client events

- 6+ years of PR experience
- Previous management experience
