The Machine Room Operator is responsible for the operations of our audio post-production facility in Burbank. Leading a team of 2 technicians and interns, the MRO will be responsible for installing, upgrading and troubleshooting all aspects of AVID platforms (control surfaces and software), Mac OS X, Windows OS, Mac OS Server and all production networking and computer applications. This is a technical audio engineering position but can involve light Recording, Editing or Mixing.
The role requires a thorough understanding of studio recording and mix room equipment and speakers. The ideal candidate will also have a solid knowledge of entertainment post-production workflows, client deliverables, localization and related media services.
The MRO and his/her team will tune studio recording and mix rooms (Genelec and JBL Cinema Speakers), calibrate video offset in Pro Tools, calibrate audio hardware, troubleshoot problems as they arise, QC and distribute media assets.
As a technical leader of the department, the MRO will manage annual equipment and software budgets, identify priorities for future capital investments and prepare cost analyses, maintain the company's inventory of assets, manage the repair and/or installation of all gear and collaborate closely with and provide guidance, support and solutions to Operations.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent.
- Excellent written / verbal communication skills.
- Calm under pressure when problem solving.
- Effective time management skills.
- Extreme attention do detail.
- Experience in Media asset management.
- Experience in Audio Technology design and implementation.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Pro Tools Ultimate systems and synchronization methods.
- Experience with QSYS systems.
- Proactively identify tools and techniques that can improve/ optimize workflows.
- Work collaboratively with clients and internal staff to provide client specific guidance and support.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
