THE ENVIRONMENT
Spectrum News is a 24-hour breaking news network which requires employees who are flexible and available to work various shift, including early morning, late evenings, weekends and holidays.

JOB SUMMARY
Tired of chasing breaking news and ratings? Ready to get back to the art of storytelling and focus on quality over story count? Producers at Spectrum News Kentucky will not hyper-focus on words like ''exclusive'' or ''first to report.'' They will instead be responsible for writing engaging, inspiring and issues-based content for a statewide audience that celebrates the Commonwealth. They will plan, create and facilitate the execution of stories across all Spectrum News Kentucky platforms, including broadcast and digital.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build functional working relationships that produce collaboration, enthusiasm and optimism in a newsroom setting
Help to spearhead coordination and collaboration of story coverage plans through daily planning meetings
Tell stories through conversational copy and compelling visual elements that inform, inspire and empower
Follow through on all assigned tasks, meeting required deadlines according to the Executive Producer's instructions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Strong broadcast news writing ability
Ability to anticipate situations and meet strict deadlines
Interpersonal skills and excellent collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organization
Knowledge of current events and industry trends
Attention to detail
Familiarity with the local market
Knowledge of social media platforms
Must be able to work rapidly and accurately
Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software and basic non-linear editing systems a plus
Basic editing skills
Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes
Education
High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field or comparable television work experience preferred
Related Work Experience Number of Years
Professional writing and/or video production experience 3+
Working Conditions
Collaborative office environment
Works primarily inside a climate controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned field duties on occasion
Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
May be required to lift up to 5 pounds
