VP, Business Development - Sony Innovation Studios
The Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for business creation and sales activities across Sony Innovation Studios business. The company is growing at a fast pace in the highly competitive market, driving innovation into the professional production technology for motion pictures, Television, and gaming. This leader will manage a team of business development and sales professionals, will define and drive business strategy and deal activities for Sony Innovation Studios' virtual production business as well as software & technology licensing business. This leader will work in close partnership with the Production/Post Production team, the Software Development team, as well as the Operation team within the Sony Innovation Studios. This leader will also work closely with counterparts within the Sony group, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Sony Corporation, and beyond.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thought leader in the digital production space with a track record of success in driving impactful change within a matrixed model. This person will be hard-wired to take responsibility and think like a business owner and also serve as a trusted advisor to both the clients and our executive leadership. Success in this role is measured in terms of annual contract value growth, effective sales management, and execution to drive business results and meet/exceed financial and business objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Develop business strategies with short / mid / long term plans that accelerate Sony Innovation Studio's virtual production business as well as software & technology licensing business.
• Lead all aspects of the deal process (negotiation, contracting) all the way through post-contract signing execution.
• Directly manage a team of strong, experienced, analytical and value-driven professional business development and sales managers.
• Evaluate the costs / benefits of proposed actions and work cross-functionality within Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Sony group.
• Build tight relationships with key clients across multiple levels of the organization.
• Managing a team of 3-5 direct reports
Requirements:
• 10+ years in business development and/or sales experience as an account executive with operational/P&L responsibility in production and/or enterprise software industry
• Masters degree in related field
• Understanding of virtual production technology and/or enterprise VFX software highly desired
• Work with key internal and external customers to ensure business is priced appropriately and transacted accurately using the highest ethical standards
• Build, manage and improve sales processes to provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presence in front of senior executives
• Superb ability to manage competing priorities, work in a fast-paced startup environment and identify broader opportunities to meet/exceed the business plan deliverables
